Job Description:
JOB TITLE:
MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR
POSITION SUMMARY:
Lead, coach, and support all manufacturing employees in their activities associated with the safe production of quality Crown, Cork, & Seal products. Achieve company and departmental goals through the use of continuous improvement processes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead all activities and model all behavior with a primary concern for the safety of all employees and the safe operation of a Manufacturing Plant
- Maintain constant awareness of the status of all manufacturing lines and communicates regularly with other leaders
- Promote problem-solving corrective action thinking and teams for optimum function of operations
- Inspect machines and equipment to ensure optimum safety, quality, and utilization
- Lead, coach, and support line process teams in their efforts to improve safety, quality, increase flexibility, and reduce costs
- Provide coaching and feedback to employees on job performance through verbal communication and formal performance appraisal mechanisms
- Provide leadership to employees and hold them accountable to achieve departmental and company goals
- Conduct various safety audits of manufacturing equipment and procedures along with conducting safety observations
- Inspect equipment and products to ensure optimum safety, utilization, and quality
- Communicate with all manufacturing employees concerning safety, staffing needs, scheduling, problem-solving, change actions, overtime, vacations, and training
- Review and support the master scheduling process to meet production needs
- Plan process activities and follow established priorities in regard to procedures, equipment capabilities, process team performance, and staffing levels
- Review, analyze, and act to correct non-conformance in safety, policies, and procedures
- Conduct required team meetings and safety training
- Provide leadership for hourly employees and hold them accountable to achieve departmental and company goals
- Coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and product quality meet specifications
- SQF responsibilities as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate degree or five years of experience as a Manufacturing Supervisor in a high volume/high velocity manufacturing setting
- Strong and demonstrated bias for Safety
- Experience leading; providing direction, encouragement, and confronting and resolving problems
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally sit and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The team member may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Majority of work time is spent in a manufacturing plant environment
- While performing the duties of this job in the plant, the team member may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic
- The team member may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures in the plant
- The noise level in the plant is frequently loud
- The Massillon plant and grounds are tobacco-free. This means that the use of tobacco of any kind will not be permitted anywhere in the building or on Crown property. This also includes prohibiting the use of any electronic cigarette devices.
