Electrical Engineer

ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving electrical, electronic, and control systems across manufacturing operations. This role will work closely with senior engineering and maintenance personnel to troubleshoot equipment, optimize system performance, support automation initiatives, and ensure reliable operation of critical production assets.

A key objective of this position is to partner with and learn from an experienced Electrical Engineer prior to retirement, ensuring continuity of technical expertise, operational knowledge, and long-term support for plant electrical systems.

This position is well-suited for recent engineering graduates or early-career engineers looking to build hands-on experience in industrial electrical systems, controls, automation, and manufacturing equipment within a fast-paced production environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of electrical, electronic, and control systems throughout the facility.
  • Work alongside senior engineering personnel to learn plant electrical infrastructure, equipment controls, and system operation.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, instrumentation, PLC, and automation-related equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Assist with the design, installation, commissioning, and modification of electrical and control systems.
  • Support production equipment upgrades, automation projects, and capital improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze equipment performance data and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and uptime.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, production, quality, and engineering teams to address equipment and process challenges.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities for electrical and equipment failures.
  • Develop and maintain electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, industrial electronics, and control systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and electronic equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to technical challenges.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing operation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Internship, co-op, or prior experience supporting industrial electrical systems, controls, or automation equipment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar design software.
  • Knowledge of project management fundamentals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field required.
  • 0-3+ years of experience in electrical engineering, industrial automation, controls engineering, manufacturing, internships, co-ops, or industrial operations environments.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field
  • 0-3+ years of manufacturing, process engineering, internships, co-ops, or industrial operations experience (or equivalent combination)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and continuous improvement principles
  • Hands-on problem-solving skills and ability to implement practical solutions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical and operational expertise
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or training
  • Experience with process simulation or engineering analysis software (Ansys or similar)
  • Knowledge of project management fundamentals
  • Internship, co-op, or prior manufacturing/industrial environment experience
