BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor at our production plant in Viana, Portugal.

Responsibilities:  

Coordination and Supervision:

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of engineers, ensuring tasks are completed according to schedules and established standards.
  • Facilitate communication between engineers and other teams, such as production, quality, and external suppliers.

Manufacturing Solution Management:

  • Oversee the accomplishment of new manufacturing solutions installation, from conception to SOP (Start of Production)
  • Ensures AR metrics are met with deadlines and budgets.

Team Development:

  • Size the team efficiently and competitively according to the project needs.
  • Develop and elevate the technical and managerial skills of the engineering team by promoting training and professional development opportunities.
  • Evaluate the performance of engineers and provide constructive feedback.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Enables continuous improvement mindset for manufacturing processes and performance standards.
  • Leads the team for cost benefit initiatives supported by business case study.

Documentation Management:

  • Ensure all process documentation, such as Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, and parameter sheets, is up-to-date and compliant with production requirements.

Problem Solving:

  • Enables the resolution of complex problems using methodologies such as 8D, PDCA, 5 Whys, Failure Tree Analysis, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Ensures the implementation corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues with robustness.
  • Comply with environmental, health and safety, quality and productivity standards
  • Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, Practice and Schedule
  • Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules
  • Respect and comply with environmental policy rules
  • Perform other tasks not included in the activity for which he was hired, when the needs or convenience of the service justify it, for the period necessary for the said needs or conveniences of service

Requirements & Competencies

  • Academic Background: Engineering background in Mechanical or Mechatronics
  • Preferred 5 to 8 years in industry, similar role will be valued
  • Knowledge in Planning Tools
  • Manufacturing processes such as screw tightening, Glue application, pressing, Welding
  • Fluent in English
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and environments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate the team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
