Our Manufacturing Engineering department supports Dyson’s engineers worldwide, turning ideas into ground-breaking technology. Involved early in the design stage, we identify materials, pre-empt production issues and find ways to build more efficiently, yet robustly. From designing the machines, to the machines that build the machines, we’re helping to shape the future of technology.
Join us as an intern and from day one you’ll be assigned to a live project with the chance to have a meaningful impact on the evolution of Dyson technology.
About the roleAs an intern, you’ll be learning from industry experts and gaining invaluable exposure to the inner workings of Dyson. You’ll be expected to hit the ground running on one of Dyson’s many live projects, demonstrating your technical skills and contributing to your team, whilst developing your knowledge of Dyson and our technology. Working as part of a larger project team, you’ll have your own set of project deliverables and the chance to take ownership of how these are achieved.
Some of your tasks could include:
Guide and work with Research, Design and Development and Manufacturing Engineering teams to deliver best practice regarding assembly and/or component manufacturing processes, in the most cost efficient way whilst ensuring product quality and reliability targets are achieved
Work with contract manufacturing assembly and production providers
Lead or participate in data driven risk analysis to enable informed review of manufacturing plans
Develop, prepare and review reports and studies to identify and recommend engineering solutions
Test and assess the reliability and robustness of machine of tester
Work with global cross functional teams to analyze, troubleshoot and fix issues discovered
Working with engineers and scientists/technical experts across a broad range of disciplines, you’ll be comfortable learning from others, but also sharing your own knowledge, ideas and opinions. We’ll support you with a development framework designed to help you make the most of your internship.

What We Do
At Dyson we are focused on solving the problems that others have ignored; solving them first using our technology and ingenuity. In order to achieve this we need to pioneer technologies that are different and authentic. This is the core of what we do and who we are. We must strive to create the future, every single day by developing new things, different things, things that go against the grain with a diverse and global team of ingenious minds.
Dyson employs over 14,000 people and is present in more than 80 countries. And while we are growing fast we want Dyson to remain a start-up in spirit with the freedom of experimentation and learning, constantly reinventing our products as well as reinventing how we work, how we sell and how we support our owners. At the same time we are working through the James Dyson Foundation, James Dyson Award and Dyson Institute to inspire future engineers and pioneering a new approach to engineering education.
Underlining everything we do in this diverse environment is the need to always show respect, supporting each other as one team to overcome whatever challenges we encounter. We drive empowerment, development and equality in an inclusive environment for our people around the world.
The future doesn’t just happen, we look to make it happen, to achieve leaps through pioneering new ideas
