Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

Under the guidance of the Sr. Process Engineer

  • Develops, designs, and communicates manufacturing processes.
  • Monitors and revises processes to help generate cost savings and improve the quality and efficiency of product/process.
  • Participates in design reviews to improve the ability to manufacture products.
  • Responsible for the activities related to the development of new processes including researching current and emerging technologies, evaluating process cost, quality, and performing process characterization and optimization studies using designed experiments, problem-solving and decision making tools.
  • Identifies and solves issues or problems with equipment/process. Troubleshoots possible causes and coordinates the activities of maintenance, production and other available resources to implement cost effective solutions.
  • Provides coordination of new process installation and process changes.
  • Other projects/duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential Functions:

•    Improve processes and equipment to drive uptime higher while reducing scrap in various production operations including winding, coating, HGRC, ORC and twisting.
•    Develop new processes for new products.  This may be new designs of products, or using new materials for current designs, or utilizing new equipment.  
•    Must have some mechanical ability to adjust tooling for the design and materials used and to increase performance.  
•    Evaluate and optimize processes and equipment to generate cost savings, and improve quality, efficiency and productivity.  Will need to work closely with Production, 

EH&S, QA, Maintenance, and outside vendors.
•    Develop new processes, research emerging technologies, and execute characterization and optimization studies of current processes using design of experiments, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, Lean Six Sigma tools, and other data-driven decision-making tools.
•    Identify and resolve equipment/material/training/process issues and coordinate activities of maintenance, quality, production and other resources to execute cost effective solutions.
•    Will need to balance multiple projects simultaneously while driving forward progress.
•    Provide subject matter expertise to other departments.
•    24/5+ support of manufacturing lines. 
•    Other duties as assigned.
 

Education and Experience
•    Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Engineering. Preferred degrees in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
•    2+ years of experience in process engineering role preferred.
•    Hands-on process engineering experience in high volume manufacturing environment preferred. 
•    Process troubleshooting experience preferred.
•    Lean six sigma experience preferred.
•    Strong project management skills.
•    Strong mechanical aptitude.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•    Strong degree of creativity.
•    Self-starter with initiative and a strong work ethic.
•    Knowledge of plant safety procedures.
•    Strong team player when collaborating with internal and external team members.

    safety glasses with side shields
    hearing protection when on production floor
    steel toe shoes/boots when on production floor
    uniforms
    specific gloves when performing specific tasks
