What you will do:

The Advanced Manufacturing + NPI Engineer will report to the JCI / Security Products Operations Director and is responsible for developing, optimizing, and implementing manufacturing processes that improve productivity, quality, cost, and safety. This role focuses on advanced production technologies such as automation, ATE, and lean methodologies to support new product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement initiatives.

How you will do it:

Process Development & Optimization

  • Working with JCI Product Engineers to Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, throughput, and quality.
  • Evaluate production methods and propose improvements using lean, Six Sigma, and value-stream mapping tools.
  • Lead process validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Collaborate with JCI Product Engineers, design and R&D teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
  • Work with Contract Manufacturing Partner to develop production layouts, workflows, and required process documentation for new products.
  • Support alpha build, pilot runs, and full-scale production launch.
  • Complete on site MRV Audits (Manufacturing Readiness Verification) in support of RCLP (Rapid Closed Loop) deliverables / timelines.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive initiatives to reduce cost, scrap, rework, and cycle time.
  • Apply root cause analysis and corrective actions to production issues.
  • Lead Kaizen events, 5S programs, and continuous improvement workshops.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, optimize and drive overall efficiency improvements in manufacturing and associated supply chains.

Quality & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain process control plans, PFMEAs, and standard work instructions.
  • Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and capability studies to ensure stable processes.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Support validation builds and final approval steps of the CCR (Component Change Request) process.
  • Ensue compliance to Engineering Changes / Deviations being issued via the JCI Product Engineering group

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Provide technical support to production, maintenance, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Train operators and technicians on new processes, equipment, and methodologies.
  • Participate in supplier evaluations and technical reviews.

What we look for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electro - Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Master’s degree or relevant certifications (Six Sigma, PMP, Lean) are a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or process engineering.
  • Proven experience with automation, process optimization, or NPI.
  • Experience with CAD, CAM, PLM (Windchill), or simulation software.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, PFMEA, control plans, and statistical methods.
  • Familiarity with PCBA SMT (Surface Mount Technology), ICT (Integrated Circuit Testing), ATE (Automated Test Equipment) and HLA (High Level Assembly) or other relevant processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • English speaking with Mandarin also preferred
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Effective communication, organization, and project management abilities.
