Manufacturing Engineer responsible for improving machine and production processes, designing and troubleshooting mechanical and automated systems, developing work instructions, programming control systems, supporting maintenance, and commissioning production lines. The role focuses on reducing downtime and scrap, improving equipment performance, implementing safety and preventive maintenance initiatives, analyzing operational problems, procuring spare parts, and training maintenance personnel in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:
- Monitor, project conception, project planning and improve machine process, develop work instructions, and train employees
- Define, measure, analyze, implement, verify and control the corrected actions deployed.
- Participate in implementing safety improvements
- Design, program, analyze and repair mechanical drives and control units including reducer assemblies and conveying systems.
- Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting mechanical systems, conveyors, press, feed systems and payoff systems.
- Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting robotic automation and motion control systems.
- Evaluate, innovate and deploy new components or processes to improve the longevity of machines and tool.
- Develop data acquisitions systems integrated and interfaced across multiple control platforms of the shop floor.
- Participating in projects that support in reducing downtime and scrap
- Organize, plan and commission new or modified production lines
- Evaluate control system logic and industrial machinery to optimize equipment performance and control
- Investigate operational problems affecting production in a systematic and methodical manner
- Work with the Maintenance teams to improve the skill level of the Maintenance and Maintainers.
- Works with maintenance department to ensure preventative and predictive maintenance compliance
- PM development related to equipment and tooling services.
- Programs software to configure and/or make modifications to automated systems and process control systems, which will include maintaining a backup library of robotic, tooling and other mechanical systems.
- Evaluate, identify spare part components, procure, coordinate and receive.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably Mechanical Engineering or Associate’s degree with equivalent experience
- 5-7 years’ experience as a plant or project engineer
- Working knowledge of high-volume, high-speed manufacturing and assembly.
- Read and understand pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, and electronic documentation and drawings and interpret equipment data
- Perform mechanical design for equipment, tooling, conveyance, automation fixtures, & diagnostics on various systems, troubleshoot mechanical equipment such as: Press, Tools, Conveyors, Robots, Fixtures, Seamers, Expanders, Welders and guarding.
- Strong understanding of machine control system operation.
- Experience with Robotics
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work alone, or in a team environment with limited supervision
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent computer and data analysis skills. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. SAP & Data Analysis (such as Minitab) experience a plus
- Good working knowledge of TDEC, TOSHA, OSHA and EPA.
