UCT is looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer to join us in Austin, TX!
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for assisting with supporting the production build of various systems on the manufacturing floor. Responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of Manufacturing techniques, procedures, and criteria. Devise new approaches to problems, prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable build and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Requires a broad knowledge of Manufacturing Practices, Assembly Prints, and Bill of Materials to be able to create Manufacturing ready documentation such as S.O.E.’s (Sequence of Events) and Assembly Process Workflow.
- Provides technical direction and on-the-job training to production staff.
- Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates the Manufacturing Engineer portion of the system build.
- Prepares and/or modifies work instructions, BOM structures, and training curriculum.
- Ensure proper interdisciplinary coordination and effective communication on projects.
- Requires contact with Customers, vendor representatives. Attends and participates in Customer meetings.
- Confers with engineers, technicians, customers, and others to discuss best practices in an effort to streamline build processes and procedures.
- Inspects completed systems; partners with Manufacturing and Quality organizations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
- Supports project production efforts to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Investigating customer or internal issues determines the nature and extent of the problem and recommends corrective actions.
- Assists in cost estimations and development of capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs.
- Evaluates and process Engineering Change Orders.
- Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Lean Manufacturing Principles, Six Sigma Greenbelt preferred.
- Familiarity with semiconductor capital equipment.
- Knowledge of electronic Work Instruction software is a plus (i.e., Sequence).
- ERP System Software
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite, emphasis in Excel.
- Prior experience leading small teams to achieve project success.
- Good interpersonal skills: ability to work alone or in a team environment.
Educational/Certification Requirement:
- Bachelor of Science/ Bachelor of Arts degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Manufacturing, or related field preferred with 2 years of experience in related manufacturing/ production position; or
- Associate of Arts (AA) in a technical field with more than 5 years of manufacturing experience.
Experience Requirement:
Work Experience:
- 2+ years related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or related industry with a Bachelor of Science degree in the below noted fields of study.
- 5+ years related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or related industry with an Associate of Arts in a technical field.
- Working knowledge of quick-turn, engineer-to-order environment
