A Day in the LifeAs a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will play a critical role in strengthening production readiness, qualification execution, and process robustness across the site. Your day-to-day work will involve owning and advancing high-impact engineering initiatives that directly support operational resilience, cost efficiency, and scalability.
You will lead late-stage and in-flight qualification activities, collaborate with cross-functional partners including Quality, Supply Chain, R&D, and external suppliers, and apply strong technical judgment to resolve complex manufacturing and validation challenges. A significant portion of your time will be spent developing, validating, and sustaining manufacturing processes while building deeper site capability in areas such as component cleaning qualification, machine vision upgrades, part standardization, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
This role requires independence, technical depth, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring compliance with Medtronic quality and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Master’s degree or related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
Experience in manufacturing engineering, process qualification, or production support within a regulated environment.
Strong understanding of process validation, verification, and qualification methodologies.
Hands-on experience or demonstrated capability in SPC, process capability analysis, and statistical methods.
Familiarity with machine vision systems, automation, or inspection technologies is highly desirable.
Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional teams on qualification or process improvement initiatives.
Ability to design or adapt manufacturing processes in compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
Established individual contributor able to work independently with general supervision.
Strong problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
Effective communicator with the ability to influence internal stakeholders and support cross-functional execution.
Comfortable managing multiple moderately complex projects in parallel.
Demonstrated ability to improve systems, processes, and engineering effectiveness.
