We are looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer II/III with SMT and PCBA experience to join our North Logan engineering team.

This role will serve as a technical resource for our surface mount technology (SMT) and printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) manufacturing processes, supporting everything from new product introduction and process development to equipment optimization, troubleshooting, yield improvement, and continuous improvement.

You will help ensure our SMT and PCBA processes are capable, repeatable, efficient, and ready to support both new and existing customer programs. You will partner closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, and Supply Chain to solve manufacturing challenges and continuously improve our operation.

What You'll Work On

Own and Improve SMT & PCBA Processes

• Develop, optimize, document, and sustain manufacturing processes for SMT and through-hole printed circuit board assemblies.
• Support manufacturing processes including solder paste printing, component placement, reflow, inspection, soldering, and related PCB assembly operations.
• Analyze manufacturing performance and identify opportunities to improve first-pass yield, quality, throughput, cycle time, and equipment utilization.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment issues and lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Establish and improve process parameters, work instructions, tooling requirements, and manufacturing methods.
• Monitor process capability and use data to identify trends and drive improvements.

Support SMT Equipment & Production

• Provide hands-on engineering support to production teams for SMT and PCBA manufacturing issues.
• Evaluate equipment performance, manufacturing flow, efficiency, and production constraints.
• Support preventive maintenance and calibration planning for manufacturing equipment.
• Conduct studies to improve equipment quality, availability, reliability, and throughput.
• Partner with technicians and operators to resolve recurring process issues and establish sustainable solutions.
• Train manufacturing employees on new processes, equipment, procedures, and process improvements.

Drive New Product Introduction & DFM

• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) from prototype through production release.
• Review new products and assemblies for manufacturability and provide DFM/DFA recommendations.
• Identify tooling, equipment, material, process, and facility requirements for new or revised products.
• Work cross-functionally to establish manufacturing processes capable of meeting customer quality and delivery requirements.
• Assist with process qualification and validation activities for new products, equipment, and manufacturing methods.

Solve Problems & Improve Performance

• Lead structured problem-solving efforts involving manufacturing defects, process variation, equipment performance, and production constraints.
• Use Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to reduce waste and improve quality, productivity, and process consistency.
• Support failure analysis and manufacturing troubleshooting activities.
• Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Identify opportunities for manufacturing cost reductions and labor-efficiency improvements.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an engineer who understands electronics manufacturing and is comfortable being hands-on in the production environment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent relevant technical education and experience may also be considered.
• Approximately 3 to 5+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience within electronics manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience supporting SMT, PCBA, or electronic assembly manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of electronic components, printed circuit board assemblies, and electronics manufacturing practices.
• Experience developing, troubleshooting, or improving manufacturing processes.
• Strong root-cause analysis, failure-analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting NPI and/or DFM/DFA activities.
• Ability to use manufacturing data to identify trends, solve problems, and improve processes.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous-improvement principles.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams.
• Ability to independently prioritize multiple manufacturing and engineering priorities.

Additional Experience That Is Helpful

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
• SolidWorks or similar CAD experience
• CAM software experience
• Tooling and fixture design
• 3D printing
• Optical or dimensional inspection equipment
• Flex-circuit manufacturing or laser depaneling experience
• Experience manufacturing electronics for aerospace, defense, medical device, or other highly regulated industries
