Cost modeling engineer is part of Predictive Cost Modeling team, under Agilent One Procurement Organization. Primary functions are to develop cost models & simulate manufacturing should-cost and perform supply-market intelligence analytics, to provide value-add solutions in strategic cost management.
Responsibilities:
- Simulate should-cost of manufactured parts/assemblies to enable cost savings/optimization initiatives and sourcing strategies.
- Apply cost analysis to identify gaps/opportunities and propose solutions to drive cost negotiation & cost optimization.
- Develop and deploy cost modeling tools on manufacturing process for a range of categories/commodities.
- Conduct supply-market data research to provide market intelligence/insights to support Procurement strategies & competitive advantage.
- Harness supply-market intelligence and cost data to run analytics on price trend & cost impact, generating actionable insights for proactive actions/forward-looking strategic planning.
- Collaborate with Category Management in tactical negotiations & strategies, and with R&D/Manufacturing/Suppliers in VAVE/NPI/DFX in design & process cost optimization.
- Categories/Commodities in-scope: Machined components, Sheet metal, Plastic molding, Flow components, Optical parts, Laboratory Glassware and Consumables.
- Bachelors Degree or above in Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience in one or more of the following fields - Manufacturing engineer, Costing engineer, Procurement/Material engineer, Supplier development engineer, Design engineer, Supply-market/Business intelligence analyst.
- Technical background/expertise in manufacturing process & technology and good understanding on the cost profile/structure in at least one or more of the categories/commodities: Machined components, Sheet metal, Plastic molding, Flow components, Optical parts, Laboratory Glassware and Consumables.
- Experience in CAD software.
- Effective MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Statistical, Data analytics and Digitalization skills are a plus.
