Position Summary
The Manufacturing Cost Coordinator reports directly to the Senior Cost Accountant and works in close partnership with Finance and Manufacturing Operations to support the accuracy and integrity of manufacturing financial data. This position is responsible for coordinating manufacturing transactions, analyzing operational and inventory information, and helping ensure production activities are accurately reflected in the ERP system.
Working closely with Production, Warehouse, and Finance, the Manufacturing Cost Coordinator monitors manufacturing activity, identifies transaction discrepancies and process improvement opportunities, and provides analytical support to ensure accurate operational reporting and timely financial close activities. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, cost accounting foundation, and the ability to collaborate across departments to improve data accuracy, strengthen operational processes, and support informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the timely financial completion of manufacturing orders by reviewing production, labor, material, and inventory transactions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established accounting and operational procedures.
- Analyze jobs activity to identify transaction discrepancies, inventory issues, labor reporting errors, and material variances that may impact financial reporting or operational performance.
- Partner with Production, Warehouse and Finance to investigate manufacturing transaction issues, coordinate corrective actions, and ensure accurate ERP records.
- Monitor manufacturing transactions within the ERP system, identify trends or recurring issues, and recommend process improvements to enhance data accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Compile routine job-closing and variance reports for review by the Senior Cost Accountant.
- Collaborate with the Cost Accounting team to research inventory discrepancies, manufacturing variances, and operational issues, providing analysis and supporting documentation for resolution.
- Work in close partnership with Finance and Manufacturing Operations to facilitate effective communication, resolve transaction-related issues, and ensure operational activities are accurately reflected within the ERP system.
- Maintain documentation and checklists for the job-close process; recommend improvements that reduce errors and cycle time.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting, cost accounting, manufacturing finance, operations finance, or financial analysis within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ERP systems is a plus (Epicor especially).
- Experience with inventory accounting, manufacturing transactions, or cost accounting is strongly preferred.

Skills Required
- High school diploma
- Associate degree or equivalent experience
- 1-3 years of data entry, clerical, manufacturing, or cost/accounting support experience
- Experience with ERP systems (Epicor especially)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
