About the role

The Manufacturing Automation Engineer at Westmag will develop and implement innovative automation solutions to enhance the efficiency and quality of our drone motor and robot actuator manufacturing processes. You will work collaboratively with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to design, install, and maintain automated systems that scale production capacity while ensuring product excellence.

What you'll own
  • Design and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes including assembly, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Work with equipment suppliers and integrators to design, install and launch new automation equipment.
  • Develop bolt-on automation systems for current production equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement robust controls and monitoring systems.
  • Develop simulations of plant operations and planned improvements to validate automation before implementation.
  • Install, debug, and maintain automated equipment and robotics on the production floor.
  • Support development of manuals, maintenance schedules and standard operating procedures for automated equipment.
  • Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts in manufacturing automation.

RequirementsRequired qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years experience in manufacturing automation, robotics, or controls engineering.
  • Proficiency with PLC programming, industrial control systems, and automation software.
  • Experience with robotic systems integration and machine vision preferred.
  • Experience with simulation software for discreet event simulation, material flow simulation and robot reach studies.
  • Familiarity with industry 4.0 technologies and IoT integration in manufacturing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills to document and present technical information.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance related to manufacturing automation.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments, preferably in automotive or electronics industries.
