Job DescriptionAECOM is looking for a Managing Project Engineer (MPE) with a water/wastewater engineering background to work on various small to medium-sized projects for the Orange County Sanitation District's (OC San) Small Projects Division (SPD) This role will be based at OC SAN Plant 1 in Fountain Valley, California.
The individual in this position must have a proven ability to execute water or wastewater engineering projects, encourage a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with various engineering departments/disciplines; identify problems, analyze information, and develop sound recommendations. This individual will act as a project manager and project engineer/technical lead and interface with OC San design and construction teams, and Operations and Maintenance. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills is essential. Familiarity with OC San procedures is highly desirable but not necessary.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serves as lead engineer on small to medium-sized projects.
- Coordinates multi-discipline design efforts.
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and designs for staff's specific area of expertise.
- Approves and signs off on work.
- Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.
- Presents complex technical solutions to clients.
- Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.
- Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on small to medium-sized projects.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or related engineering field and 6 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering and design, including project analysis, feasibility, and budgeting required or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education
- Registration as a Professional Engineer
- Valid Driver’s License and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
Preferred Requirements
- Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in California, or able to obtain within six months of hiring date
- Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills
- Strong work ethic and professional demeanor
- Proactive on assignments and demonstrate initiative
- Must work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines
- Proficient with CAD and design software (Civil 3D, Bentley Design Suites, Water CAD, Sewer CAD, ARC GIS, etc
- No sponsorship will be available for this role
