Managing Principal – Risk Management

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Risk Management team at Marsh. This role will be based in Brisbane. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

In this role you will work within our Risk Management Practice and be responsible for the growth, profitability and client satisfaction of a book of business containing large and complex accounts. This includes managing and developing client relationships, acting as the client's trusted advisor, pursuing new business development, and expanding and diversifying the mix of Marsh products and services the client holds.

We will count on you to:

  • Maintain and grow client relationships, building understanding of client businesses, risk exposures, and insurance requirements
  • Utilise risk expertise and knowledge of industry and insurance marketplace to review clients’ exposures and loss experience to develop bespoke insurance and risk solutions
  • Conduct and analyse research to maintain a comprehensive understanding of client operating environment and coinciding business needs, as well as core team accounts to maintain a comfortable handle on the portfolio at large
  • Support complex claims matters by working with claims colleagues and helping coordinate client advocacy where needed
  • Manage a team of colleagues supporting the portfolio, ensuring accurate client records are maintained and keeping up to date with relevant insurance products, market developments, and legislative requirements
  • Assist in engagement and presentations to prospective clients in an effort to produce new business growth
  • Attend and participate in industry events, conferences and client functions to build a strong professional network, maintain proximity to the relevant market and represent the Company and its product offerings and solutions

We would like you to have:

  • 10+ years’ experience within a commercial insurance environment, with strong experience in Industrial Special Risks and General Liability insurance
  • Strong business acumen including a well-rounded knowledge of the Queensland economy and its core industries.
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization including the ‘C’ Suite
  • Ability to prioritise work, multi-task, consistently meet deadlines and manage a small team of professionals.

  • A sound understanding of business and organisational risk management
  • Prior experience managing a portfolio of complex accounts
  • Thorough understanding of all aspects of insurance and strategic client engagement
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and negotiation skills
  • Tier 1 FSRA Compliance is essential and a tertiary qualification will be highly regarded but not essential
