Hypebeast is looking for a Managing Editor based in Shanghai to join our rapidly developing team. We require a strategic and data driven leader who understands the world of fashion/culture with critical thinking abilities and possesses skilled communication methods who has a proven track record managing and growing editorial platforms, as well as teams. This role requires a detailed understanding of publishing tools, analytics tools and social marketing technology along with all native platforms (WeChat, Rednote, Douyin, Instagram and more). 

You must be able to demonstrate a clear ability to develop tactics and campaigns that drive business goals such as audience growth, engagement, acquisition, reach and maintenance. An in-depth knowledge of brands, culture and fashion is a must but also the ability to spot trends across different fields and apply them to this specific area.

You are also tasked to constantly create different types of content especially long-form videos, social reels and digital covers that continue to drive the development of our platforms in China, while managing advertorials and branded content requests to fuel the growth of our company’s revenue strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the China Editorial Team, ensuring effective content strategies to hit our traffic targets, meet set milestones, and guide featured content to align with the Hypebeast brand.
  • Conceive, implement and measure editorial pieces on a daily basis across all relevant channels.
  • Execute website publishing strategies while ensuring all posts are accurate, punctual, efficient, safe and on brand.
  • Maintain relationships with external and internal teams to brief and manage original content for distribution.
  • Lead all communication with international editorial and sales leads on priorities and best practices.
  • Assist in maximizing editorial and sales opportunities, while developing strategies, goals, timelines, partnerships and tools that help achieve business goals.
  • Identify emerging subcultures and new communities that Hypebeast can grow into, in order to expand our audience reach and strategize growth.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of website, publishing, editorial content creation and distribution (brand or agency).
  • Proficient in social media platforms and tools in China, Wordpress and Google Analytics; basic in Photoshop.
  • Extremely passionate and knowledgeable about fashion, culture and the different categories that Hypebeast covers.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and planning skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing successful editorial marketing strategies that are native to individual channels and demonstrate tangible ROI.
  • Ability to successfully organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects under strict deadlines.
  • A passion for working in a fast-paced environment with a high level of teamwork.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
  • Deep ability to collect, analyze and use website data to affect change.
  • Candidates with less experience will be considered as Associate Managing Editor.
