As a Managing Consultant, Project Manager (Indigenous Partnerships) with ERM - one of the world’s leading sustainability and environmental consulting firms - you’ll play a key role in advancing projects that shape the future of mining, energy, and environmental stewardship across Canada, with a particular focus on supporting the growth and success of Indigenous Partnerships. The role will require strong project delivery discipline, proactive business development, and the ability to build trusted, respectful relationships with Indigenous partners, clients, and community-connected businesses. This position is ideally based in Kimberley, Fernie, or Sparwood (BC); however, qualified candidates located in Calgary or the Crowsnest Pass (AB) will also be considered.

As a Project Manager, Capital Project Delivery, you’ll provide essential leadership support, ensuring that high-profile, multistakeholder projects are delivered with precision, quality, strong client engagement, disciplined project management, and an active focus on growing an Indigenous Lead Environmental Practice  in South East BC and surrounding region. Your work strengthens both the technical execution and the Indigenous Partnerships that our clients and community can trust.  

What Your Impact Is

In this role, you will play a pivotal role in guiding all sectors that ERM supports including mining, diversified energy, renewables, municipal and environmental stewardship projects from early proposal development through to final report completion. You’ll help bring clarity and structure to complex environmental initiatives by coordinating multidisciplinary teams so that each project advances with purpose and accountability. Your ability to translate client goals into actionable plans will directly influence how schedules are designed, budgets are managed, logistics are coordinated, and high-quality outcomes are delivered for defined scopes of work.

You’ll work directly with clients to understand what they are trying to achieve and help steer technical teams toward solutions that meet those expectations, escalating risks as appropriate. Your grounding in project controls will be essential in keeping work on track, on budget, and aligned with commitments.

Your contributions will extend beyond project mechanics. You’ll support a broad range of environmental projects, champion a strong culture of health and safety, and help foster collaboration across ERM’s internal networks. In doing so, you’ll become part of a global community of practitioners working together to tackle some of the most meaningful environmental and social challenges facing our clients.

A core part of your impact will be supporting the growth of ERM’s environmental and sustainability practice through Indigenous Partnerships as a  trusted environmental partner in southeast British Columbia. You will support business development by identifying opportunities, strengthening client relationships, contributing to proposals, and help shaping the importance of Indigenous participation and execution through project delivery. This role requires the ability to help maintain respectful and durable relationships with Indigenous and industry partners by listening carefully, communicating transparently, and supporting work that reflects alignment of shared values.

What You’ll Bring

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or related field.

• 4+ years of consulting experience in environmental or related technical disciplines.

• Experience in the mining and/or energy sector.

• Proven ability to coordinate and manage environmental scopes of work.

• Detailed oriented with strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.

• Ability to work independently while aligning with internal governance and direction.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a deadline driven environment with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrated competence with core project management practices (change management, risk management, quality management, financial tracking).

• Demonstrated financial literacy, with the ability to lead project controls activities such as budget tracking, cost forecasting, invoicing support, and understanding project financial performance.

• Demonstrated ability to support business development, including identifying opportunities, contributing to proposals, and building trusted client relationships.

• Experience working respectfully and collaboratively with Indigenous partners, Indigenous-owned businesses, or community-connected organizations.

• Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

Preferred

• 6+ years of consulting experience in environmental or related technical disciplines. Experience supporting capacity building, Indigenous participation, or partnership-based delivery models in environmental consulting or natural resource projects.

• Experience developing and managing project schedules, including dependencies and critical path.

• Experience with project scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet).

• Experience managing environmental, regulatory, permitting, and/or field programs.

• Field data collection experience (wildlife, terrestrial ecology, soils, wetlands, aquatic biology, hydrology).

• Project Management Professional (PMP), or other related certification, is also an advantage.

• Bilingual in English and French and/or Spanish.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure strong health and safety planning and execution practices

• Independently manage assigned scopes across multiple deadline driven projects‑driven projects

• Lead routine client communications to clarify needs, objectives, and progress

• Manage projects from proposal development through reporting while following ERM governance

• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality project outputs‑quality project outputs

• Track budgets, complete invoicing and apply ERM financial management processes

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules

• Support proposal development and cost estimation

• Identify and support business development opportunities that strengthen client base, regional presence, and long-term growth.

• Build and maintain respectful working relationships with Indigenous partners, Indigenous-owned businesses, clients, and local stakeholders.

• Work with leadership to translate partnership objectives into practical project delivery, local participation, and capacity-building opportunities.

• Work across diverse projects with varying scopes, budgets, and timelines

• Compile, review, and contribute to technical data analysis and report preparation

• Coordinate subcontractors and associated logistics

• Plan and coordinate fieldwork schedules

• Build strong collaborative working relationships across ERM teams
