The Role

At CVS Health, we’re building a world of health around every consumer and surrounding ourselves with dedicated colleagues who are passionate about transforming health care.

As the nation’s leading health solutions company, we reach millions of Americans through our local presence, digital channels and more than 300,000 purpose-driven colleagues – caring for people where, when and how they choose in a way that is uniquely more connected, more convenient and more compassionate. And we do it all with heart, each and every day.

As a vital member of the Retail Health Workforce Management (WFM) team, the Workforce Management Manager will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of our labor strategy to deliver on our financial commitments while supporting our colleagues and patients in the delivery of high-quality care.

The WFM team is responsible for developing labor strategy and targets for MinuteClinic, the nation’s largest retail health care provider. Our team is responsible for setting provider and clinical support staff hours by clinic by week across a 200M payroll budget and 2.5K+ front line colleagues and building the reporting and tools to execute those targets. Additionally, our team supports the transition of our labor strategy as we move into primary care and helps support workforce needs for our virtual care and behavioral health businesses.

This role is highly collaborative and will work in a matrixed environment to develop and evaluate innovative strategies to achieve results. This role will also monitor and optimize these strategies through insightful analytics. The manager will be tasked with uncovering and assessing new WFM opportunities while striving to create operational excellence. This manger will drive the development and validation of labor standards, refine and update inputs to labor models, and present actionable insights to leadership for continuous improvement. This individual will support refreshing data inputs on a standard cadence to drive optimal labor alignment strategies. This individual must possess a strong desire for utilizing data to drive decisions, and working cross functionally to ensure our business has the right colleagues, in the right clinics, at the right time.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic workforce management expertise, analytic support, and thought leadership for our broader healthcare delivery efforts as we continue to evolve our retail health care model
  • Support development and execution of a strategic roadmap related to workforce management, labor modeling, colleague scheduling, and staffing
  • Work with our analytics partners to develop tools, dashboards, and capabilities that enable the field to execute on our optimal labor strategies and workforce performance
  • Glean insights from WFM reports to advance labor optimization, highlighting areas for improvement and recommending solutions
  • Assist in development of annual labor budgets and in year forecasting based on our demand-driven staffing models
  • Use critical thinking to frame business problems, acquire relevant data points, design analytical plans, and provide actionable insights and strategic solutions
  • Prepare materials and presentations in a way that can be easily understood by non-subject matter experts
  • Support special projects to advance our labor strategy in critical areas such as the transition to primary care, the integration of brick & mortar and virtual workforce, and optimizing our provider scheduling strategy
