As a leading member of our UHG M&A team, this position would place you in a leadership role to actively manage multiple merger and acquisition projects, providing extensive exposure to key individuals throughout our organization and also to senior management of companies targeted for acquisition. UHG is one of the largest healthcare investors in the world that actively seeks to invest its capital in M&A to fulfill its mission to make the healthcare system better for everyone.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Evaluation of M&A targets to synthesize their business offerings, strategic value to UnitedHealth Group, as well as key drivers of historical and projected revenues and profits
- Leading the development of synergy models, valuation assessments (DCF, transaction and trading comparables), as well as earnings per share accretion / dilution analyses
- Managing the due diligence process to validate the investment thesis and associated risks by coordinating across large internal diligence teams of functional subject matter experts
- Driving financial due diligence of a target company to assess the quality of its historical earnings, validate its current performance trajectory and confirm assumptions underlying the transaction model
- Reviewing transaction agreement terms having financial implications (net working capital, indebtedness, funds flows, etc.), developing negotiating positions and providing recommendations to senior team members
- Presenting M&A opportunities, analyses, key diligence findings and transaction risks at an executive level through written briefings and verbal discussions to senior leadership across UnitedHealth Group
- Identifying, researching, and evaluating M&A industry trends, potential inorganic growth initiatives, and M&A target companies across healthcare sectors through special projects for executive leaders
- Key point-of-contact for business segment senior leadership, transaction advisors and acquisition targets
- Developing and coaching junior team members to become solid M&A professionals with business acumen

Required Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Math
- 6+ years of M&A experience with a Transaction Advisory Services group corporate development, investment banking or private equity firm
- Experience leading multiple transaction teams, often in parallel, with the mental agility to adapt, make progress and address issues in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Expert-level financial and accounting skillset, including income statement and balance sheet presentation, GAAP reporting, quality of earnings, working capital and statement of cash flows analysis
- Mastery of historical performance, forecasting, valuation and transaction structure modeling
- Demonstrated solid written and verbal communication skillset with the ability to present at an executive level
- Travel and work schedule flexibility
Preferred Qualification:
- CFA, CPA, or MBA
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $134,600 - $230,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
