The Job/What You’ll Do:
We are seeking a Manager, Trading Systems to serve as the business owner for assigned trading technology capabilities, ensuring trading systems are configured, governed, and operated to deliver consistent, scalable, and efficient business outcomes across the investment lifecycle.
This role defines how trading technology should function to support portfolio management, trading, operations, compliance, and client servicing. The Manager, Trading Systems establishes business workflows, configuration standards, operating principles, and governance practices that enable reliable production trading while balancing operational efficiency, risk management, and scalability.
Working as a peer to Product Management, this role partners closely with Trading Leadership, Engineering, Portfolio Management, Operations, Compliance, Risk, and Technology to translate business strategy into production-ready technology capabilities. Partnering with Product and Engineering Teams, the Manager, Trading Systems owns the business operation of the platform—including workflow design, configuration governance, business rules, acceptance criteria, production validation, and continuous improvement.
This position is ideal for a senior individual contributor who combines deep trading domain expertise with strong systems thinking, business analysis, and operational leadership. As the trading technology organization evolves, the role provides a natural pathway toward broader platform leadership or people leadership while remaining focused on business ownership and production excellence.
We can only consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Charlotte, NC office.
Responsibilities:
- Own the business operation of assigned trading technology capabilities, ensuring systems, configurations, and workflows consistently support business objectives and production trading.
- Define and govern business workflows, configuration standards, operating rules, and control frameworks that deliver scalable, compliant, and efficient trading outcomes.
- Serve as the Trading Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) for enterprise initiatives, representing Trading in cross-functional programs and influencing Trading Product agenda.
- Establish and maintain business ownership of trading platform configurations, ensuring changes are governed, documented, validated, and aligned with operational standards.
- Partner with Product Management to influence product roadmaps, prioritize enhancements, and ensure strategic initiatives address evolving trading and operational needs.
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), business validation, production readiness reviews, and post-implementation stabilization for trading system enhancements.
- Identify opportunities to optimize trading workflows through configuration improvements, automation, workflow redesign, and operational standardization.
- Evaluate the operational impact of configuration changes, ensuring downstream processes, integrations, and control environments remain stable and effective.
- Establish governance for trading system changes by defining approval processes, documentation standards, testing requirements, and production release criteria.
- Monitor process performance, operational metrics, and stakeholder feedback to continuously improve platform capabilities and user experience.
- Identify operational risks, process gaps, and control weaknesses while partnering with Compliance and Risk to strengthen governance and regulatory alignment.
- Develop business cases and recommendations for technology investments that improve scalability, operational efficiency, production resiliency, and client outcomes.
- Collaborate with Engineering throughout the solution lifecycle to ensure delivered capabilities align with business expectations and production operating requirements.
- Influence organizational capability by sharing trading system expertise, promoting best practices, and driving adoption of standardized operating models across Trade Operations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience owning business workflows, system configurations, or operating models within complex trading environments.
- Strong understanding of order management systems (OMS), execution management systems (EMS), portfolio management platforms, and trading lifecycle processes.
- Experience translating business strategy into functional requirements, workflow designs, and technology solutions.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives without direct management authority.
- Strong analytical, systems thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence executive and technical audiences.
- Experience with OMS/EMS, portfolio accounting, rebalancing, and execution management platforms.
- Experience managing business configuration of enterprise trading applications.
- Experience leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT), production validation, and release readiness activities.
- Experience using reporting and analytics platforms including Power BI, Tableau, or SQL-based reporting tools.
- Knowledge of investment operations, regulatory requirements, and operational risk management within an investment management organization.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in investment management, wealth management, or capital markets with significant exposure to trading operations, trading systems, or investment technology.
Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $110,000-$130,000. This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
