About the role.
Reporting to the Director, Global Trade Compliance, the Global Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing trade compliance activities across Great Britain, Ireland, Europe, and the Middle East. This role plays a critical part in ensuring McCain's compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, export controls, and sanctions requirements while supporting strategic business growth and the efficient movement of products across global markets.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, driving compliance excellence, mitigating trade risks, and ensuring regulatory requirements are embedded into day-to-day operations across the region.
What you'll be doing.
- Lead regional trade compliance activities across Great Britain, Ireland, Europe, and the Middle East.
- Ensure adherence to international trade laws, customs regulations, export controls, sanctions programs, and internal compliance policies.
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on McCain's business operations.
- Oversee import and export classification, valuation, and origin determinations.
- Provide strategic direction on Free Trade Agreement (FTA) utilization and duty optimization opportunities.
- Maintain audit readiness and support trade compliance audits, assessments, and corrective action plans.
- Manage and maintain Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) and equivalent trusted trader program certifications where applicable.
- Develop and deliver trade compliance training and awareness programs for internal stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate trade documentation, regulatory filings, and compliance reporting, including evolving EU requirements such as CBAM reporting.
- Partner with Procurement, Logistics, Legal, Public Relations, and Food Regulatory teams to support new products, market expansion activities, and strategic business initiatives.
What you'll need to be successful.
- Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Law, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in global trade compliance, preferably within the food, agriculture, manufacturing, or consumer goods industries.
- Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, customs compliance, export controls, sanctions, HS classification, and Free Trade Agreements.
- Experience managing compliance audits, investigations, risk assessments, and remediation activities.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Experience developing and facilitating training programs and compliance communications.
- Familiarity with trade compliance platforms and ERP systems such as SAP GTS, Oracle GTM, or similar technologies.
- Professional certifications such as the IOE&IT Diploma in World Customs Compliance & Regulations, EU Diploma in International Trade Compliance, or equivalent are preferred.
- Experience with AEO programs is highly desirable.
- Ability to travel up to 25% within Great Britain and Europe.
About the team.
The Global Trade Compliance team is responsible for ensuring McCain's adherence to international trade regulations while enabling compliant, efficient global supply chain operations. This role reports to the Director, Global Trade Compliance and works closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Legal, Public Relations, Food Regulatory, and external trade experts across multiple regions. The position serves as a key link between business operations and regulatory requirements, helping McCain manage risk while supporting growth and expansion initiatives.
