Summary/Objective:

The Manager, Theatrical Publicity, is responsible for managing consumer press campaigns for Angel’s theatrical slate and is a member of Angel’s communications team. The ideal candidate will have significant national media relationships and a successful track record of leading and booking publicity campaigns for major studio theatrical releases across several genres. This role will be responsible for securing high-impact, long lead national consumer press to generate awareness for Angel releases, complementing the company’s marketing campaigns. Our candidate is a strategic thinker and strong collaborator who possesses an outstanding work ethic, deep curiosity, and a passion for the media and entertainment industry, as well as the values-driven films and television series we champion. They will also develop and implement procedures for the theatrical publicity function, ensuring all campaign materials are accurate and aligned with Angel’s values before release.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage national, high-impact consumer media campaigns for Angel theatrical releases.
  • Builds and maintains outstanding, direct relationships with reporters, editors, and talent bookers at national news organizations and leading digital outlets to drive coverage of theatrical films.
  • Directly books national and local press to support theatrical publicity junkets and on-the-ground campaign execution.
  • Books national morning and late-night television shows and secures and manages long-lead, impactful national consumer stories for Angel’s theatrical releases.
  • Collaborates with the company’s distribution and marketing managers to build consensus and ensure that publicity efforts are fully aligned with theatrical marketing campaigns and box-office goals.
  • Develops and implements procedures for the theatrical publicity function while managing national, high-impact consumer media campaigns for every Angel theatrical release.
  • Maintains and enhances a favorable public image for Angel Studios and its theatrical slate by communicating key stories, accomplishments, and points of view through national media channels focused on film releases.
  • Evaluates all theatrical publicity materials before release to ensure accuracy, appropriateness of message, and alignment with the studio’s values-driven films, then authorizes release.
  • Prepares and distributes news releases, fact sheets, scripts, press kits, and other materials tailored to support theatrical film campaigns to national and industry media outlets.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in the English language is required.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace.
  • Detail-oriented perspective and able to pick up on overlooked details.

  • Able to maintain the confidentiality of company information.
  • Must be able to manage multiple assignments at once, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5  years of theatrical publicity experience working at a major studio or public relations agency

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
  • Master’s Degree Preferred
  • 5 years of national theatrical publicity experience, leading consumer media campaigns for major releases across multiple genres.

Work Environment:

    Work environment - When in the main office, expect a comfortable, air-conditioned work environment. Team members are issued their own desks, but the office is an open, shared space and can be fast-paced and occasionally noisy.

    Physical demands - Must be able to sit or stand at a desk for extended periods of time. 

    Position type and expected hours of work - Regular, full-time

    Travel required - 25%
     
    Work authorization - Must be authorized to work in the United States.
