Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for an Test Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located in San Diego, CA.

The assignment includes responsibility for managing technical, schedule, cost, and resources across multiple programs and may include tooling development projects supporting manufacturing needs such as test readiness, producibility, and RF/digital testing for Radio Systems. Our work requires Secret Clearance.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight of engineering staff regarding manufacturing practices, test requirements, quality processes, and identify and resolve any manufacturability challenges that will impact producibility and quality.

  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations and engineering specifications.

  • Drive the team to support the production floor in a liaison role. These activities include answering assist calls from technicians, performing root cause corrective action, and be responsive to keep production moving

  • Track department schedules, working to identify key parameters and metrics to increase efficiency and reduce program costs

  • Investigate and initiate corrective action to ensure product quality; resolve quality issues that arise during the build process to ensure all parts conform to the design configuration.

  • Plan manpower requirements, performing quarterly and annual performance reviews of staff

Basic Qualifications:

  • STEM Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of engineering experience including 2 years leadership experience OR Masters with 6 years of engineering experience including 2 years leadership experience; in lieu of a degree, 4 additional years of related experience may be considered including 2 years leadership experience.

  • Experience with production environment primary focus on testability

  • Experience with cross-functional engagement and building relationships with internal and external customers

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs

  • US Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD security clearance

  • Technical knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF), digital/analog electronic devices or VHSIC Hardware Description Language (VHDL)

  • Experience Engineering, Tooling, Production, Program Management and GSC Subcontracts Processes.

  • Experienced in dynamic environments where there may be schedule changes, design changes and validation failures.

  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) and Cost Account Management (CAM)

  • Demonstrated work experience leading diverse teams and building teams from the ground up

  • Experience working hands-on in a production assembly line environment

  • Demonstrated broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business and technical capabilities

Primary Level Salary Range: $146,600.00 - $219,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
