We are now looking for a Technical Sales Manager, Packaging Papers, Americas to contribute to growing UPM Specialty Papers’ packaging paper business in the Americas.

In this role of Technical Sales Manager you will be part of the growing, international packaging team in the Americas with endless opportunities for development and growth. What you will do  

  • Handle customer remarks and claims whenever Customer Service or Operations need technical support 

  • Proactively prospect for new business opportunities and develop sales proposals 

  • Establish and develop effective relationships with relevant co-creation partners to build future growth opportunities  

  • Provide packaging paper converting and application expertise internally to sales teams, and customer service. Closely cooperate with and support the product and technology development team 

  • Manage customer projects including the first screening of assigned customer inquiries with initial technical feasibility study and cost assessment 

  • Participate in trade associations and technical conferences related to target market opportunities, share information internally about the latest industry solutions and technologies 

  • Act as a link between customer and production sites in solving technically complex cases and support the overall quality level improvement of the mills 

  • Monitor and report on industry trends, build influence through establishing relationships in the entire segment value chain. Contribute to build up the in-depth company intelligence about paper packaging value chains 

 

 

Who you are 

  • You have relevant commercial degree/education and technical understanding of complex products 

  • You have proven history in sales, ideally in a B-to-B environment or technical sales 

  • You have sales skills, product, application and process knowledge in packaging, and experience of packaging industry and market 

  • You have good communication and interpersonal skills 

  • You are commercially minded and excel at networking with others 

  • You are familiar with working in matrix organization 

  • You are decisive and results oriented 

  • You are agile in the face of change 

  • Spanish or Portuguese language skills are preferred
