About the Role
BDO’s Business Services division helps clients succeed by delivering world class advisory and compliance support across all areas of their business. Our clients include emerging enterprises, fast growing corporate groups and high income / high net worth families across a wide range of industries.
We are seeking an experienced Manager to join our vibrant and growing team, leading client engagements, guiding a high performing group and contributing to practical compliance, tax and advisory solutions. This is a great opportunity to bring your knowledge and leadership expertise to a collaborative division known for delivering high quality, tailored business advice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the management, along with other managers, of daily operations within a dynamic 5 partner Business Services team
- Lead, mentor and train team members to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality client service
- Manage and review complex financial statements (including consolidated reports) and income tax returns for complex corporate groups (both domestic and with an international presence), large complex family groups and emerging enterprises
- Review general purpose financial statement and tax effect calculations (not essential but desired)
- Conduct tax compliance reviews across tax returns, FBT, GST and payroll tax
- Advise clients on tax planning opportunities, implement tax effective strategies and draft tax structuring and related advice
- Participate in strategic business discussions with clients and provide clear client communications
- Assist in setting and monitoring job budgets and communicating scope to the team
- Prepare and analyse complex management accounting reports
- Contribute to the design and development of financial reporting models
- Begin developing external networks and building market presence
- Perform additional ad hoc duties as required
Skills/Attributes Required:
- Achieves successful outcomes through clear and effective communications and the ability to relate to others
- Demonstrated commercial acumen, with an understanding of business issues and application to client situations
- Strong communication skills, able to adapt style to suit different audiences, and articulate complex issues
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with proven experience training and mentoring junior staff members
- Collaborative and solution focused
- Ability to monitor progress and manage client engagements to deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
- Proactive approach, self-driven, accountable and able to bring new ideas to the table.
Qualifications and Experience required:
- Prior accounting experience in an accounting firm environment
- CA/CPA qualified
- General consulting exposure to a range of clients
