About Holley

Holley Inc. (NYSE: HLLY) is a designer, manufacturer, and marketer of high-performance automotive aftermarket products, serving enthusiasts through direct-to-consumer, e-tailer, distributor, and retail channels. Founded in 1903, Holley is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Role

Holley Inc. is seeking a Tax Manager to own the Company's tax function in a public, multi-entity, growth-oriented environment with increasing international complexity.

This is Holley's internal tax expert and its single point of accountability for income tax provision, compliance, controls, and tax audits. Holley runs a co-sourced tax model, with external specialists preparing the provision, income tax returns, and transfer pricing documentation. The Tax Manager owns the positions and conclusions behind that work - scoping it, challenging it, and standing behind the results with auditors, taxing authorities, and Finance leadership - while directly owning cash tax forecasting, research and development credit data, and sales and use taxability.

The role reports to the VP of Finance and partners across SEC Reporting, Accounting, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Legal, and Internal Audit. This is an individual contributor role, supported by Holley's external tax specialists and the broader Finance team. It carries no travel requirement and works closely with senior Finance leadership, with visibility to the executive team.

Why This Role

  • You own the entire tax function, not a slice of it - provision, compliance, audits, international, and transactions.
  • A corporate calendar with no client service, no billable hours, and no travel - quarterly deadlines you can plan your year around.
  • Direct visibility, with your work feeding SEC filings and quarterly Audit Committee reporting.
  • Hands-on transaction work - Holley has completed multiple acquisitions and divestitures in recent years, and this role is the tax lead on diligence, purchase accounting support, and integration, including cross-border matters.
  • A co-sourced model that puts external specialists behind you, so your time goes to review, judgment, and planning rather than return preparation.
  • A close working partnership with senior Finance leadership in a company small enough that your work is visible.

Key Responsibilities

Income Tax Provision and Reporting

  • Own the quarterly and annual income tax provision under ASC 740, including review and challenge of the effective tax rate model, deferred taxes, valuation allowance analysis, and return-to-provision true-ups before the provision is recorded.
  • Own the uncertain tax position analysis under ASC 740, including recognition and measurement conclusions, related interest accruals, and supporting documentation.
  • Partner with SEC Reporting on the income tax footnote and related disclosures for Forms 10-Q and 10-K.
  • Monitor enacted and proposed tax legislation, assess applicability to Holley, and document the conclusion.

Compliance, Audits, and Notices

  • Own the consolidated tax compliance calendar across federal, state and local, and foreign jurisdictions, holding external providers accountable to deadlines and quality.
  • Review and approve income tax returns, extensions, and estimated payments prepared by external providers, validating taxable income, apportionment, and credits before filing.
  • Manage tax examinations and notices end to end, from information document requests and exemption documentation through assessment negotiation, penalty abatement, and settlement recommendations.
  • Monitor the Company's multi-state nexus and registration footprint as operations evolve, and recommend filing positions and registrations as appropriate.

Analysis and Planning

  • Own cash tax forecasting and modeling, including estimated payment planning, scenario analysis, and cash tax inputs to liquidity forecasting.
  • Own research and development credit data development, working with Engineering, Product, and Accounting to identify and substantiate qualified activities.
  • Own sales and use taxability determinations and exemption certificate governance, and analyze general ledger and transaction detail to support tax positions and audit responses.

Controls, International, and Transactions

  • Serve as owner and operator of Holley's key tax SOX controls, maintaining review evidence and supporting Internal Audit and external auditor testing requests.
  • Coordinate foreign provision and compliance activity and own the transfer pricing program in partnership with external specialists, including intercompany arrangements, documentation, and adjustments.
  • Serve as tax lead on acquisitions, divestitures, and cross-border structuring, including due diligence scoping, purchase agreement tax provisions, purchase accounting support, and post-closing obligations.
  • Manage external tax provider scope and performance, and prepare quarterly tax updates for Finance leadership and Audit Committee reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive corporate or public accounting tax experience, including direct responsibility for ASC 740 income tax provision work.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently review and challenge tax work product prepared by others, including identifying errors and unsupported assumptions in complex provision models.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. federal and multi-state income tax, apportionment and nexus concepts, and sales and use tax.
  • Experience supporting state or federal tax examinations.
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills, with the ability to trace amounts through the general ledger to source transactions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage a recurring reporting calendar, and communicate technical outcomes clearly to non-tax leadership.
  • Public company or SEC-reporting experience, including SOX tax controls, preferred.
  • Experience with co-sourced or outsourced tax arrangements, multinational operations, transfer pricing, or transaction support preferred.
  • CPA or Master's in Taxation preferred.

Key Competencies

  • Technical tax judgment with the confidence to challenge external specialists
  • Control-minded approach to documentation, evidence, and audit readiness
  • Analytical rigor and comfort working at the transaction level
  • Clear communicator across finance, advisors, auditors, and leadership
  • Organized and accountable in a deadline-driven reporting cycle
