The Manager or Talent Payments & Compliance manages the financial and administrative aspects of talent bookings and payments. This role connects the internal Talent, Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Legal teams with talent agencies, representatives, external partners, and tax counsel to ensure payments are accurate, timely, properly documented, and tax compliant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Partner with the Talent team to understand booking terms, financial obligations, and engagement timelines.

  • Coordinate with Accounting and Accounts Payable to review and process deposits, final payments, reimbursements, and other talent-related expenses.

  • Work directly with talent agencies, representatives, and external partners to obtain invoices, tax forms, banking information, contracts, and other required documentation.

  • Review talent agreements to confirm payment amounts, due dates, reimbursable expenses, and financial terms.

  • Collaborate with the internal Legal department and external tax counsel to address contractual, regulatory, and tax matters related to talent engagements.

  • Apply applicable domestic and international withholding-tax requirements, escalating complex questions to internal or external tax counsel when appropriate.

  • Maintain and communicate payment schedules, payment status, confirmations, remittance details, and receipts to required parties.

  • Resolve documentation gaps, invoice discrepancies, and changes to booking or payment terms.

  • Maintain accurate records to support reconciliations, reporting, audits, and compliance.

  • Help improve talent-payment processes, controls, and communication practices.

  • Assist and/ or complete additional tasks as assigned

EDUCATION/WORKING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant experience in accounting, accounts payable, talent payments, entertainment finance, or production accounting.
  • Knowledge of invoice processing, payment controls, reconciliations, and financial documentation.
  • Familiarity with withholding-tax requirements for domestic and international talent or independent contractors.
  • Experience working with legal teams, external tax advisors, talent agencies, representatives, event partners, or entertainment vendors preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple bookings and deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential contracts, compensation, tax records, and banking information.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems, payment platforms, and Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software.
