Role Purpose 

The primary role of the Manager, Systems Engineering is responsible for leading a team of system engineers in the design, implementation, and maintenance of hardware, software, complex systems and infrastructure. This role ensures the alignment of systems with the organization’s strategic objectives, delivers high-quality technical solutions, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, this position will require a deep understanding of both technical and managerial aspects to ensure that all tasks are delivered on time, within budget, and meets the highest quality standard. The Manager, Systems Engineering will regularly engage with clients to understand requirements, provide technical expertise, and ensure that systems solutions needs are met. This role involves building and maintain strong client relationships, addressing concerns promptly, managing commercial actions and delivering exceptional service to enhance client satisfaction and trust.

Accountabilities

  • Be a collaborative, active and positive member of the EMEA Operations team who operates in alignment with Verra Mobilities Values.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Lead, Mentor, and Develop a high performing team of systems engineers.
    • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive team culture.
    • Conduct regular coaching and performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Technical Oversight and Support
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of hardware, software, complex systems and infrastructure.
    • Provide technical guidance and support project execution and problem solving.
    • Ensure adherence to best practices, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Task Management
    • Plan, initiative, and manage tasks from inception to completion.
    • Allocate resources effectively and ensuretasks are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
    • Collaborate with cross function teams to align tasks with business objectives.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance
    • Develop and implement rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure system reliability and performance.
    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and internal policies.
    • Conduct regular audits and reviews to identify areas of improvement.
    • Maintain configuration management records and audit systems for configuration compliance.
    • Create robust and resilient processes.
  • Client Interaction and Relationship Management
    • Engage with clients to understand their needs, provide technical expertise, and ensure successful delivery.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships to foster trust and satisfaction.
    • Address client concerns and feedback promptly and effectively.
    • Seek out additional revenue with clients and manage accurate invoicing to clients.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team.
    • Identify and implement new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance system performance and efficiency.
    • Encourage and support innovation in system design and problem solving.
  • Stakeholder Communication
    • Serve as primary point of contact for internal stakeholders on system engineering matters.
    • Communicate task status, risks, and successes to senior management, and other stakeholders.
    • Develop and deliver technical presentations and reports to stakeholder, as needed.
  • Ensure all company property, are handled with respect, and maintained appropriately.
  • Adhere to all Verra Mobility policies, standards, processes, procedures, and guidelines.

Experience & Technical Requirements

  • A diploma level qualification in a technology and/or computer field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in managing people and performance.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years of experience in a Systems and/or Computer Technology based role.
  • Advanced experience in supporting technical IT services.
  • Strong knowledge of working with MS Operating Systems and Applications.
  • Carry out routine planned maintenance activities of Verra Mobility’s maintained systems.
  • Have moderate Skills & Performance scores across the 3 Aptitude & Interpersonal areas of the Ops Team – Work & Team Attitude, Customer Facing Performance & Aptitude for personal development.
  • Highways technology and/or speed enforcement experience.
  • A current, valid and unrestricted driver’s licence.
  • A current and valid passport for work related travel.
  • Capable of successfully passing and maintaining role specific background checks including Driver History, Criminal History and Pre-Employment Medical examination (including Drug and Alcohol testing) where required.
  • Capable of attaining required certification and completing require training for the role and work being completed.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Regular use of office equipment, such as computers, printers, and telephones.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching within the office.
  • Carrying and transporting lightweight equipment or documents up to 5KG in single hand and up to 10kg total.
  • Periodic travel to client sites, company locations, or industry events, which may require extended periods of driving or flying.
