Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a highly qualified, mission-oriented Manager Systems Engineering 2 located in San Diego, CA, Palmdale, CA, or El Segundo, CA. This role will be a combination of 85% technical statement of work (SOW) and 15% functional homeroom manager (FHR) SOW. This opportunity is open to personnel already briefed to the program and who already have ongoing technical scope.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDING (BUT NOT LIMITED TO) THE FOLLOWING:
- Lead a section of systems engineers (8-15 personnel)
- Be responsible for hiring, development, training, and retention of section talent. Hiring will include university and experienced hiring.
- Provide leadership and direction to team members and manage employee performance (including engagement strategies for higher performers and corrective actions for lower performers)
- Responsible for day-to-day operation of the organization including employee movement and balancing of resources among programs, and resolving critical/urgent program/technical issues.
- Promote the professional development of the Systems Engineering team and foster a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement.
- Provide clear assignments, helps employees connect their efforts to the bigger picture, creates an inclusive work environment characterized by mutual respect and the valuing of differences, and builds a culture that motivates employees to their highest levels of performance.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of combined technical and management experience, or Master’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 7 years of combined technical and management experience.
- Experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Requirements and Verification, Operations Analysis, Modeling and Simulation, Systems Analysis, System Architecture, Mission Integration or Model Based Systems Engineering, IFC, Specialty Engineering, or other applicable SE competency
- Experience leading an engineering team or project.
- Currently briefed to and supporting applicable program statement of work.
- Experience leading an engineering team or project.
- Active USG Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
