ABOUT THE TEAM

Sustainable investment is an integral part of our investment approach, helping us mitigate risk, uncover opportunities to enhance long-term performance, and bring our edge. Our Sustainability and Climate Innovation (SCI) group spearheads our efforts. The group helps advance our sustainability and climate capabilities and practices; and deeply collaborates with the investment teams to integrate factors related to sustainability throughout our investment processes and deliver public reporting to stakeholders. We’re seeking a temporary 18-month contract for Manager, Sustainability & Climate Innovation, to support on PSP climate approach, including the integration of climate considerations into relevant risk management processes. As a valued member of the Sustainability and Climate Innovation group (SCI), you will report to the Senior Director, Sustainability and Climate Strategy. ABOUT YOUR ROLE 

As Manager, Sustainability & Climate Innovation, you will join the SCI group within the Office of our Chief People and Corporate Development Officer. Your responsibilities encompass a wide range of crucial tasks to advance our commitment to climate action and sustainable investment. In your role, you will:  

  • Climate Risk Integration: Lead the integration of climate considerations into relevant risk management processes, methodologies and reporting, working in close partnership with the Risk team and asset class teams to translate climate insights into practical, decision-useful analysis and embed them across investment and risk activities

  • Climate approach: Actively participate in advancing PSP Investments climate approach, including implementation and reporting. Lead the development of quantitative tools, portfolio-wide metrics and analytical outputs to support the assessment, monitoring and integration of climate-related risks

  • Sustainability integration: Lead sustainability assessments of target companies and partners, including due diligence and ongoing monitoring activities, and oversee the coordination and review of sustainability-related work performed by third-party advisors

  • Internal policy and procedure enhancement: Participate in the development or enhancement of climate-related policies and procedures and collaborate with other internal and external experts

  • Education and knowledge transfer: Contribute to the design and delivery of climate-related training and knowledge-sharing initiatives across the organization, partnering with relevant teams to strengthen their ability to integrate climate considerations effectively into their activities

WHAT YOU’LL NEED 
  • Robust educational foundation, advanced degrees preferred (e.g., master’s degree in finance, sustainability management, politics, science, engineering, or a related discipline). Additional ESG or Climate-related certification are a plus

  • Demonstrated expertise through six (6) to eight (8) years of relevant sustainability experience, with a strong focus on climate. International experience and expertise within the financial industry is a plus

  • Understanding of investment and/or enterprise risk management frameworks, with the ability to translate climate-related risks into practical assessment, monitoring and reporting approaches

  • Expertise in developing (corporate) climate strategies, establishing strategic direction, setting goals, and delivering results, and aligning them with industry best practices and standards

  • Experience in delivering training on sustainability and climate-related matters

  • Proficiency in greenhouse gas emissions including familiarity with recognized standards

  • Understanding of transition plan frameworks, such as SBTi and CRREM

  • Strong business acumen, blending both qualitative and quantitative analysis to solve complex business problems

  • A results-oriented and goal-driven mindset, with a commitment to achieving quantifiable outcomes

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with a high level of autonomy

  • Proven ability to build trust and foster long-term relationships with diverse stakeholders

  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across teams and actively contribute to shared priorities and group objectives

  • Proficiency in English and French (or willingness to learn) (frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)

Skills Required

  • Advanced degree (master's preferred) in finance, sustainability management, politics, science, engineering, or related discipline
  • Six to eight years of relevant sustainability experience with strong focus on climate
  • International experience and expertise within the financial industry
