Manager of Strategic Sourcing Operations

We’re looking for a Manager of Strategic Sourcing Operations to lead sourcing strategies that deliver value, manage risk, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations. In this role, you’ll oversee procurement operations, manage vendor relationships, and support the academic, research, and administrative needs of the university. This function will have a direct line to the Director of Purchasing and will work closely with BYU Print Services, Continuing Education and FSY.

What you’ll do in this position:

  • Lead daily procurement operations and provide strategic sourcing direction.
  • Build and manage vendor relationships, contracts, and sourcing initiatives.
  • Oversee complex projects, including large equipment and new construction.
  • Negotiate and manage major contracts to ensure compliance and cost savings.
  • Drive process improvements across purchasing and travel offices.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, finance, or a related field.
  •  Eight years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with domestic and international sourcing.
  • Knowledge of procurement laws, compliance, and contract management.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and leadership abilities.
  • Please note: this position requires 2-4 weeks of travel per year.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience in higher education, government, or non-profit procurement.
  • Familiarity with systems such as Workday, EATEC/Agilysis, or GPOs.
  • Relevant certifications (CPSM, CPPO, CPPB).

Pay Grade: 55

Typical Starting Pay: $92,000-$119,000

The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
