Strategic Partnerships manages and grows the most significant enterprise relationships across American Express. The team is responsible for defining multi-year partnership strategies, supporting key negotiations and projects, and driving new business opportunities globally with our largest Blue Box partners. It exists to deliver against three core objectives: (1) foster and maintain external relationships, (2) support and develop partner strategies that maximize value to customers and the enterprise, and (3) bring the best of Amex to drive growth and innovation.

 

This Manager will report to Director, Strategic Partnerships – Fintech and will support enterprise partnerships with critical fintech partners. Success in this role will require developing a deep understanding of these partners’ businesses, strategies, and product roadmaps, as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve meaningful, measurable partnership outcomes. The role combines strategic thinking with strong operational execution and requires someone who is comfortable operating in ambiguity, managing complex initiatives, and influencing across a broad stakeholder group. 

Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to-day management of fintech partnerships, including initiative tracking, governance, executive meeting preparation, partner communication, business cases, and account strategies to ensure successful execution across multiple workstreams.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each partner's business model, strategy, product roadmap, and priorities, using those insights to identify new opportunities and inform enterprise strategy and partnership recommendations.
  • Identify, evaluate, and help execute new partnership opportunities from early ideation through business case development and implementation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partner teams to support successful partnership execution, long-term relationship growth, and the delivery of value for Card Members and the Enterprise.
  • Coordinate across a broad group of internal stakeholders to drive alignment, remove obstacles, and advance partnership priorities.
  • Serve as a strategic resource for the broader Strategic Partnerships Fintech team by developing industry insights, competitive analyses, team updates, and partner engagement plans, while owning other cross-team initiatives.
