Position Overview

Autodesk is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Engineering Manager to join the Autodesk Platform Services (APS) Engineering team in Pune, India.

The APS Platform offers API’s and services that help our customers access and use their design and engineering data via the cloud.

We are looking for a strong leader, communicator with a balance of technical knowledge and business acumen. As an ideal candidate, you have led teams developing scalable cloud services in a fast-paced, agile environment. You know how to nurture talent, develop/advocate best practices, foster open communication, and provide guidance and mentoring to effective and high-performing teams to deliver high-quality solutions to their customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Key Business Outcome / Initiatives. Accountable for multiple large scale key results

  • Lead and contribute to development of company objectives and long term strategy of the services

  • Lead a team of software engineers to ensure execution and unlock creativity

  • Analyse, learn and extend product vision by collaborating with all the stakeholders

  • Team up with Tech Leads, Architects and Product Management to design and develop the features

  • Develop staff by coaching, facilitating career aspirations and providing growth opportunities

  • Provide leadership to achieve high standards of done in areas of quality, security, scalability, user experience

  • Research and prototype new ideas, technologies and patterns relating to the task

  • Collaborate and partner closely with teams across the globe

  • Flexibility under changing conditions and the ability to multi-task between projects

  • Hire, develop and mentor top engineering talent

  • Manage the unknowns and help teams manage through the uncertainties

  • Enhance engineering efficiency; observing the team, identifying opportunities, and influencing the improvement


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any Engineering discipline from reputed engineering college

  • 10+ years of hands on experience in the industry involving designing and developing cloud scale and highly available server applications and services

  • 4+ years of experience in leading, mentoring, and managing development teams, or other similar leadership roles (managing cross-functional team members from Software Engineers to Principal Engineers)

  • Strong in OOAD concepts and methodologies

  • Hands-on experience on Java, Springboot, Scala or any of the Web & Cloud technologies

  • Hands-on experience with AWS (or other cloud provider's) services such as SQS, S3, DynamoDB, IAM, Lambda, etc

  • Hands-on experience of developing GraphQL, RESTful web services and integrating the same with heterogeneous clients

  • Hands-on experience with Relational and NoSQL database technologies e.g. MySQL, DynamoDB

  • Hands-on experience with Build and CI/CD tools like Ant, Gradle, Docker, Jenkins

  • Preferred experience with log aggregation and operational event monitoring technologies like Splunk or New Relic or ELK Stack

  • Working knowledge of UML, software design patterns, distributed systems, resiliency and security

  • Familiarity with the software development process, including specification, quality assurance, and documentation

  • Able to manage a product using Agile/Scrum Principles

  • Experience in hiring key talent and setting up teams for success

  • Experience working with product management on goals alignment and risks measurement

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to converse fluently with multiple types of audiences ranging from managers, architects, and partners

  • Experience in hiring key talent and setting up teams for success

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to state complex subjects simply for a variety of audiences. Ability to articulate well to engineering teams as well as senior leadership

  • Experience managing geo distributed teams across different time zones

  • Self-starter who can come up to speed quickly and identify the problems that need to be solved and drive the solutions for them
