Engineering Manager – Platform Team (Full Stack) Location: Remote, Canada
As the Engineering Manager for Flexera’s Platform Engineering team, you will drive strategy and roadmap deliveries across the full stack of our applications, solving real and challenging industry problems for our customers. You will lead a highly experienced global team of engineers building and transforming products within Flexera’s suite, with responsibilities spanning both backend and frontend development, cloud infrastructure, and modern deployment practices.

The Role:
As an Engineering Manager, you’ll be responsible for workload management, wellbeing, and professional growth of your team. You’ll foster an open, collaborative environment and support systems to help your engineers succeed. You will lead the Platform team, collaborating across product groups, UX Design, and Product Management, supporting engineering teams to deliver robust, scalable, and high-performing solutions for our customers.
Your Responsibilities:
Lead the platform engineering team, managing both backend and frontend development.
Oversee architecture, infrastructure, and dev operations for full stack applications.
Drive development of backend micro-services and applications, ensuring scalability and reliability.
Guide deployment and troubleshooting of services using Kubernetes on AWS cloud environments.
Support integration of modern frontend technologies (React, TypeScript, Styled Components) and backend systems (Go, SQL databases).
Promote best practices in software design, database architecture, and performance optimization.
Encourage the use of AI tools like GitHub Copilot to accelerate development activities.
Maintain visibility into product roadmap objectives and communicate updates across teams.
Manage team workload, feature roadmap resourcing, and coordination in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
Support mentorship, technical upskilling, and career progression for engineers.
Participate in recruitment, budgeting, and tooling decisions.
Foster a culture of high-level reasoning about software, algorithms, and performance.
Ensure strong communication and collaboration within and across teams.
Required Skills & Experience:
Minimum 3 years of proven experience in a managerial role.
Experience in Full-stack software development.
Extensive experience developing backend micro-services and applications.
Hands-on experience with Go programming language.
Experience deploying and troubleshooting with Kubernetes on AWS and/or Azure cloud environments.
Proficient in using AI tools like GitHub Copilot to accelerate development activities.
Good understanding of SQL database design.
Ability to reason about software, algorithms, and performance from a high level.
Strong communication skills to work within and across teams.
Experience planning, tracking, delivering, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience operating services at scale with observability and reporting on engineering metrics.
Familiarity with frontend frameworks (React, Angular) and UI best practices is a plus.
Understanding of cloud technologies, big data, and SaaS products.
Bonus Points:
Experience in remote-first environments and global teams.
Familiarity with performance testing.
Familiarity with AWS and Azure infrastructure
