Your Responsibilities

• Lifecycle Management: The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for owning the lifecycle of one or more applications or a suite of applications through all facets of the lifecycle, including strategy, tactical, and operational management.
• Technical Leadership: This role involves being hands-on and serving as a technical leader for development initiatives. The manager actively participates in the architecture, design, development, testing, and delivery of high-quality software platforms.
• People Management: The Software Engineering Manager is accountable for coaching and mentoring a team of software engineers, typically ranging from 5-8 members. This includes improving the quality of software being developed and guiding team members in their career journey.
• Strategic Thought Leadership: The manager sets technology direction and raises the bar for technology development and support across the enterprise. They are responsible for optimizing IT investments that support Choice Hotels' business strategies.
• Relationship Management: Strong business relationship skills are required as the manager interacts with various levels in the organization, including business stakeholders, product owners, designers, architects, and leaders.
• Incident and Problem Management: The manager is accountable for incident and problem management, ensuring that issues are resolved efficiently and effectively.
• Application Delivery: The manager drives application delivery, ensuring that projects are completed on time and meet quality standards.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience
• At least 3 years’ experience in technology leadership role
• At least 4 years’ experience in an engineering contributor role; front-end engineering preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Proficiency in AWS and Atlassian products a plus
• Demonstrates key competencies to include cultivating innovation, driving delivery and engagement, and the ability to develop your teams’ talent

Your Team

This is a leadership role that will report to the Senior Manager of Software Engineering. You will have 6 - 8 and collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.

Your Work Location

As our Manager of Software Engineering, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art technology hub in Scottsdale, AZ. In October 2021, Choice opened a newly constructed world class technology center.

Right now, our associates in Scottsdale, AZ are working in a hybrid environment, up to 4 days per week in the office and virtually from your home office the remaining days. We provide flexibility and encourage ongoing communication with your leadership to establish expectations about your unique needs.
