THE TEAM: TM CORE HOST
The TM Core Host Team is on a mission to modernize the core of Ticketmaster: the Host Ticketing System and its related products and services! Using modern technologies such as Rust, Kubernetes, and Kafka alongside venerable stalwarts like C++, Java, and even assembly language, our goal is to make our systems more flexible, resilient, and modern. Our products power existing marketplace experiences AND emerging domain services at Ticketmaster and are key to our success and in the critical path for daily operations.
THE JOB
In the role of Manager, you will be responsible for leading a geographically dispersed, multi-level engineering team for TM Core, a division of Ticketmaster Tech. You will be responsible to lead and manage the activities of the team – including a mix of full time and contract employees - in support of business objectives. In addition, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the code base yourself, to both further the team’s objectives and your own personal development.
You will work closely with product, quality, program, tech ops and engineering to deliver value rapidly. You will also serve as a liaison to senior management reporting on the status of current projects, identifying obstacles with associated impacts and proactively recommending solutions.
You will collaborate with performing teams to deliver new capabilities in business applications and remediate issues. You will receive assignments in the form of objectives, and it will be up to you to determine how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. You can analyse workflow and to delegate projects to team members to meet department goals.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Manage the activities of a team of engineers focused on a specific product area.

Use business knowledge and context to guide team technical decisions for assigned areas.

Evaluate existing applications and services to determine technical changes and architecture improvements

Sets and implements procedures related to quality standards

Mentor and coach team members.

Collaborate with performing teams to deliver new capabilities in business applications and/or remediate issues

Provide guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies

Evaluates and makes input into specific aspects of the operating plans

Oversee, manage, and ensure ongoing training/development of staff. Ability to evaluate staff and provide performance feedback /coaching

Make recommendations for hiring decisions

Contrbute to the code base for your assigned area(s), both as an opportunity to contribute to the teams goals and to further your own learning and development.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES)

7 or more years of progressively complex related experience or proven experience in a similar role
-
A bacherlor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or relevant experience.

An understanding of systems programming languages such as C++ and/or Rust, and multipurpose languages such as Java.

Working knowledge with modern streaming frameworks such as Kafka.

Working knowledge of front-end development and technologies such as Javascript and ReactJS is a plus.

Experience with Agile methodologies

Experience of working full stack
