So, what’s the role all about?

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Engineering Manager, managing a team of software engineers that develop complex internal software applications. The ideal candidate should have a background in software development and a passion for automation and continuous integration/delivery. The Manager will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of internal applications and infrastructure, and ensuring the smooth operation of our applications. This person will play a critical role in ensuring that our systems are scalable, secure, and highly available. 


How will you make an impact?  

  • Manage a team of software engineers and provide guidance, mentorship, and support to help them reach their full potential. 
  • Be a leader for continuing a culture of Software Development best practices.
  • Participate as the Product Owner, Project Manager, Scrum Master for all feature development on the internal tools while also operating as the team's People Manager.
  • Automate manual processes and continuously improve our systems to increase efficiency and reliability. 
  • In addition to tool development, lead effort to expand automated regression tests for the tools.
  • Act as the primary contact for internal applications owned by the team and coordinate with other teams to resolve any issues promptly. 
  • Plan and execute disaster recovery tests to ensure that our systems are resilient and able to recover from unexpected events. 
  • Collaborate with development teams and architecture to provide them with the necessary tools and infrastructure to support their work. 
  • Maintain a well-groomed backlog of work for team. 
  • Prioritize work requests from development teams in a clear and fair manner. 
  • Stay current with new technologies and industry best practices, and continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies as appropriate. 
  • Lead the design, implementation, and support of software development best practices, tooling, and implementation of the same.   


Have you got what it takes?

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering (or a related field) or equivalent experience. 
  • 8+ years as an individual contributor in software development. 
  • 4+ years leading a team. 
  • Strong experience with Software Development Lifecycle. 
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure. 
  • Familiarity with automation and continuous integration/delivery technologies, such as Playwright, GitHub, and GitHub Actions. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies. 
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team. 

 

You will have an advantage if you also have:

  • Experience with hosted applications, or other similar technical products. 
  • Experience with databases 
  • Experience working with contractors
