Overview
The InControl for Commercial Payments (ICCP) platform is a core part of Mastercard Commercial Solutions, enabling organizations worldwide to securely issue and manage Virtual Cards for travel, expense, purchasing, and supplier payment programs.
We are seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to lead a team responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and resilient software solutions that power Mastercard's commercial payments ecosystem. This role combines people leadership, technical leadership, and delivery ownership in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
Role
As Manager, Software Engineering, you will lead a team of software engineers responsible for the design, development, delivery, and operation of business-critical applications and services. You will drive engineering excellence, build high-performing teams, and partner across Product, Architecture, Security, Reliability Engineering, and Operations to deliver customer-focused outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of software engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Drive the successful delivery of strategic initiatives, product enhancements, and platform modernization efforts.
Guide the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of highly available, distributed software solutions.
Champion engineering best practices across software development, quality assurance, automation, security, and operational excellence.
Partner with Product and business stakeholders to translate business priorities into technical solutions and delivery plans.
Support architectural decisions and technology adoption that improve scalability, resiliency, maintainability, and performance.
Ensure solutions meet Mastercard standards for quality, reliability, security, compliance, and customer experience.
Drive operational excellence through observability, automation, risk reduction, and continuous service improvement.
Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes effectively to stakeholders and leadership.
Contribute to the broader engineering community through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Proven experience leading software engineering teams in a complex, enterprise-scale environment.
Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, talent development, performance management, and team building.
Experience delivering large-scale distributed systems and customer-facing applications.
Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, testing strategies, and modern engineering practices.
Experience working in Agile environments, including Scrum and/or SAFe.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence across organizational boundaries.
Experience with Java, Spring Boot, APIs, microservices, cloud-native technologies, CI/CD, and automation practices.
Experience driving operational excellence, platform reliability, resiliency, and production support.
Payments, fintech, or other regulated industry experience preferred.
Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS is an advantage.
