We are seeking a dynamic Software Engineering Manager to lead three high‑performing development teams delivering mission‑critical applications across our contact center and merchandising/gift shop domains. This leader will guide Software Engineers, Business Analysts, System Analysts, and contract partners through the full software lifecycle—from design and development to deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
This role is ideal for a people‑centric engineering leader who combines strong technical intuition with a passion for developing talent, driving quality, and scaling modern engineering practices.
- Lead, mentor, and develop technical team members across multiple product teams, fostering a culture of excellence, ownership, and continuous learning.
- Provide coaching, performance appraisals, and day‑to‑day guidance that supports both short‑term performance and long‑term career growth.
- Define and reinforce engineering best practices, development standards, documentation expectations, and quality/security guidelines.
- Manage hiring, workforce planning, and professional development—including training budget oversight and approval for educational opportunities.
- Ensure delivery of maintainable, secure, and high‑quality software solutions across multiple platforms.
- Champion modern engineering approaches including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (unit, functional, load, security), cloud‑ready design, and reusable frameworks.
- Conduct code reviews, feedback sessions, and other coaching strategies that drive team growth and technical consistency.
- Advocate for common assets, scalable architecture patterns, and modernization of legacy solutions.
- Collaborate closely with the Director, Platform to shape engineering strategy, define annual budgets, and make tactical recommendations.
- Build strong relationships with key business and IT stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and product roadmaps.
- Partner with enterprise teams to ensure technology decisions support quality, security, performance, and operational reliability.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure on‑time, high‑quality delivery aligned with internal engineering standards and architectural direction.
- Oversee contract resources across multiple teams, ensuring integration with full‑time staff and consistent delivery expectations.
- Resolve conflicts effectively and maintain a productive team culture that values collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
- Work across all ITS teams to support organizational alignment and drive outcomes that enhance business-critical operations.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, modern development practices, and systems integration.
- Proficiency or strong working knowledge across a hybrid technology ecosystem, including:
- Microsoft/.NET full-stack development
- Salesforce (Sales, Service, Commerce Clouds)
- APIs, enterprise integration patterns, data middleware
- Web servers, open-source frameworks, Oracle, WebLogic, PL/SQL
- Java, JavaScript, XML, UNIX shell scripting, Apache
- Experience working within Agile methodologies and engineering practices (CI/CD, test automation, DevOps concepts).
- 6+ years in information technology with at least 2 years managing software engineering or cross-functional delivery teams. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Demonstrated success building predictable, high-quality engineering practices across multiple teams.
- Strong technical judgment with the ability to operate in complex, ambiguous environments.
- A track record of translating business needs into actionable plans and delivering measurable outcomes.
- Experience supporting business-critical functions such as contact centers or retail/eCommerce is a plus.
