Shield AI is seeking an expert software engineer and world-class leader to scale and guide our Hivemind Foundations team into the next phase of execution. The Hivemind Foundations team is chartered with creating an integrated product, EdgeOS, that provides the foundational software layers upon which Hivemind Pilot autonomy is constructed and operated. The EdgeOS Communications team is responsible for building out high-reliability distributed network capabilities that enable robot teaming. As the leader of this team, you will oversee the team building, architecture, design, implementation, processes, and quality of execution to deliver this essential product to internal and external customers.

What You'll Do

Manage a team of 7-9 talented engineers
Contribute to architecture decisions, design reviews, and technical decisions
Set process standards, drive strategic technical improvements, and align technical approaches with long-term roadmaps
Work with autonomy and simulation teams to improve EdgeOS based on their needs

Required Qualifications

Typically requires a minimum of 7 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or 5 years with a PhD; or equivalent work experience. Computer Science
2+ years of people leadership experience
5+ years of experience in C++11 or later
Strong foundation of C++ API design
Experience shipping and supporting a software product
Demonstrated record of working hard, being a kind and trustworthy teammate, and holding yourself and others to high standards

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of communication systems, including wireless networking (troubleshooting, performance tuning/optimization), RF radios, UDP/TCP protocols, etc
Experience designing and developing Domain Specific Languages (DSL) and related compilers
Familiarity with C++17
Familiarity with Conan/CMake
Robotics, game engine, and/or GPU experience

Full-time regular employee offer package:

Salary compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location.
