What will you be doing?
Process re-engineering
- Conduct structured working sessions with finance function owners
- Map current state processes — not to document them, but to find what should be eliminated, redesigned, or automated
- Define future state process architecture that is modular, scalable, and built for a handling tomorrow's volume
- Translate re-engineered process designs into clear requirements that the product and engineering teams can build upon
Adoption and continuous improvement
- Own the adoption loop once a module goes live - track whether the system is being used as designed, surface where it isn't, and build the requirements case for V2 and V3
- Work directly with finance function owners to drive behavioural change alongside system change
- Define and track module-level metrics that measure whether transformation is delivering outcomes and not just activity
- Working rhythm
- Operate as a structured, disciplined partner to finance function owners - not an external consultant but a permanent team member with continuity and accountability
- Work in close coordination with the CIO organisation to build systems that deliver the outcomes
What to look for:
- Finance domain fluency: Knows enough about how finance functions operate - transaction processing, period close, reporting, compliance, business finance, FP&A - to have credible conversations without being onboarded to the basics. You don't need to be a specialist in every area, but you need to be a generalist who can move across functions without losing the thread.
- Curiosity: Gets uncomfortable with "this is how we've always done it." Not contrarian for its own sake, but genuinely curious about whether there's a better way. Finds broken processes more interesting than stable ones.
- Structured thinking: Can take a complex, undocumented, relationship-driven process and build a clear picture of what's happening and what should happen instead. Doesn't need a complete brief to start moving. Makes progress with incomplete information.
- Finisher: Gets things across the line. Not just a good ideas person but someone who tracks adoption, follows up, closes loops, and treats go-live as the beginning of the work, not the end.
- Translator: Sits between finance and technology without losing either. Can speak finance to engineers and engineering constraints to finance people.
- Comfort with AI-native working: You are comfortable using AI as an active tool in your day-to-day work and not as a novelty. You use it to accelerate discovery, synthesise complex inputs, challenge your own thinking, and produce outputs faster and better than you could alone.
