Job Description:
The responsibilities for this position include daily oversight of plant safety and environmental programs, reducing employee injury rates both in number and severity. Provide EHS support to multiple facilities. This position is also responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance with OSHA and other state and local authorities, as well as environmental regulations. The everyday tasks include working with various safety management tools including audits, safety coaching, behavioral based safety, and job hazard analysis. Customer response on various regulatory issues is also an ongoing responsibility.
Implement the daily details of the site Safety plan, including coordination of safety programs in cooperation with the Environmental and Safety Committee leaders, training development and delivery, new employee orientation, area audits, oversight of incident reviews, and response and reporting for incidents. Provide daily maintenance of safety records, accident records and statistics, OSHA log, job-related medical evaluations, and JSAs.
Implement the daily details of the site environmental compliance program, including waste management, audits, training, and spill response.
Participate as safety representative in continuous improvement activities (kaizens, projects, etc.). Participate in cross functional activities to improve Operations (safety, environmental, waste minimization, etc.) Organize and maintain Job Safety Analysis forms for positions within the business. Identify and correct potential health and safety hazards. Daily activities in support of recycling and sustainability efforts for the business. Provides support in Environmental activities including oversight of the SDS system including revision of existing SDS’s and the creation of SDS’s for new products. Serve as first responder and coordinate first responder training and response.
Education and Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required
-Strong working knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations, safe operating practices in a business and chemical environment and EHS enforcement of procedures and policies.
-3-5 years' of EHS management experience in a manufacturing environment (chemical manufacturing preferred)
-Multi-site experience preferred
-Strong background and experience in environmental permitting and chemical management
-Working knowledge of Federal/State Regulatory Requirements
-Demonstrated good judgment and strong ethical standards.
-Well-organized and ability to relate to management, line workers, government officials, customers, and visitors.
-Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word and other related programs.
-Ability to travel up to 25%, multi-site and states.
-Experience creating and implementing a safety program.
