Checkout.com is where the world checks out. Our global network powers billions of transactions every year, making money move without making a fuss. We spent years perfecting a service most people will never notice. Because when digital payments just work, businesses grow, customers stay, and no one stops to think about why.

Because a role here isn’t just another job; it’s a career-defining opportunity to build the future of fintech.

Job Description

Our mission is to enable businesses and their communities to thrive in the digital economy. We’re the strategic payments partner for some of the best known fast-moving brands globally such as Wise, Hut Group, Sony Electronics, Homebase, Henkel, Klarna and many others. Purpose-built with performance and scalability in mind, our flexible cloud-based payments platform helps global enterprises launch new products and create experiences customers love. And it's not just what we build that makes us different. It's how.

We empower passionate problem-solvers to collaborate, innovate and do their best work. That’s why we’re on the Forbes Cloud 100 list and a Great Place to Work accredited company. And we’re just getting started. We’re building diverse and inclusive teams around the world - because that’s how we create even better experiences for our merchants and our partners.

Role overview

Reporting to the Head of Regulatory Compliance, you will lead Regulatory Compliance for our North American business. Your primary mission is to maintain our "license to operate" across the Americas, ensuring we meet the rigorous demands of state-level Money Transmitter Licenses (MTLs) and specialised Gaming licenses.

You will act as the Regulatory Compliance lead for our MALPB (Major Americas Limited Partnership Board) entity, ensuring that governance, reporting, and regulatory engagements are executed to the highest standard. This role requires a high degree of autonomy and the ability to manage a high volume of recurring filings across states.

Key Responsibilities

Americas Strategy & Reporting

  • Horizon Scanning: Monitor legislative changes at both the federal (FinCEN, FINTRAC) and state levels. Assess how new bills (e.g. updates to the Uniform Money Services Act) impact our business, and project manage change, as required.

  • Call Reports: Oversee the timely submission of MSB Call Reports and state-specific quarterly/annual filings.

MTL & Gaming License Management

  • Renewal Cycle Ownership: Own the end-to-end renewal process for Checkout.com US State Money Transmitter Licenses (MTLs) and specialised Gaming licenses.

  • NMLS Management: Act as the primary administrator for the NMLS (Nationwide Multistate Licensing System), ensuring all company records, biographical updates, and financial disclosures are current.

  • Gaming Compliance: Lead the Gaming license maintenance required by state gaming boards.

Entity Governance & MALPB Support

  • MALPB Lead: Ensure compliance with our Global Entity Governance framework. Track regulatory commitments, and ensure the entity remains in good standing with all oversight bodies.

  • Regulatory Exams: Lead the "war room" for state-level regulatory examinations. Coordinate document production, manage examiner queries, and oversee the implementation of any Management Action Plans (MAPs).

Project & Stakeholder Support

  • Provide project management support for regulatory, licensing, and internal change initiatives.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders across Compliance, Risk, Legal, Finance, and Operations to gather information and track deliverables.

  • Prepare materials and updates for internal governance forums and senior stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience: 6-8+ years in Regulatory Ops or Compliance, with deep experience in the US MSB/MTL space.

  • Licensing Expertise: Hands-on experience with NMLS and a proven track record of managing multi-state license renewals and Gaming board requirements.

  • Project Management: Exceptional ability to manage high-volume, recurring deadlines. You should be comfortable managing a "compliance calendar" that involves hundreds of filings per year.

  • MALPB/Governance Knowledge: Experience supporting entity-level governance and board-level reporting in a regulated financial services environment.

  • Tech Savvy: Ability to leverage automation (JIRA/Confluence) to manage the massive data requirements of 50-state reporting.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarise regulatory developments.

  • Proactive, curious, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, global environment.

Why Join Us?
  •  Gain hands-on exposure to global regulatory and compliance operations at a leading payments company.

  • Work closely with senior leaders across Checkout.com.

  • Develop a strong foundation for a long-term career in compliance, risk, or legal operations.

  • Collaborative, inclusive culture with opportunities for growth and learning.
