MPS, a division of Macmillan Publishers, a leading US publisher of Trade and Academic titles, has a job opening for a Manager, Reconciliations in our Gordonsville facility. MPS provides back office support, warehousing, and, fulfillment for Macmillan US, and is their primary distribution facility for North America.

Purpose of the Role: The Reconciliation Manager is responsible for managing Amazon transaction reconciliation activities to support accurate financial reporting and timely resolution of deductions. The manager will supervise a reconciliation team, support process improvements, and partner cross-functionally to reduce operational and compliance-related losses.

Key responsibilities/tasks:

Amazon Vendor Central Reconciliation
• Manage day-to-day reconciliation of Amazon Vendor Central activity including invoices, payments, chargebacks, and credit memos.
• Ensure reconciliations are completed accurately and in accordance with established timelines to support month-end close.
• Identify and escalate reconciliation variances and issues as appropriate.

Deductions & Dispute Management
• Oversee research on shortage, compliance, price and discount, and post-audit deductions.
• Coordinate dispute submissions and follow-up to support recovery efforts.
• Review complex or higher-value cases prior to escalation.
• Track outstanding deductions and recovery status.

Financial Support & Reporting
• Support preparation of Amazon-related accruals, reserves, and write-off documentation.
• Partner with Senior Management on revenue recognition, forecasting, and variance explanations.
• Support internal and external audits with complete documentation.

Process Improvement & Automation
• Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation processes and workflows.
• Assist with the implementation of process enhancements and automation tools.
• Support continuous improvement of accuracy, efficiency, and cycle time.

Compliance & Root Cause Reduction
• Monitor recurring chargebacks and shortages to identify potential compliance issues.
• Partner with Operations and other internal teams to support corrective actions.
• Track trends by ASIN, fulfillment center, vendor code, or carrier and share insights as needed.

Team Leadership
• Supervise reconciliation analysts.
• Assign work, set priorities, and monitor workload and performance.
• Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities.
• Maintain SOPs, training materials, and escalation guidelines.

Communication
• Communicate reconciliation status, issues, and risks to internal stakeholders.
• Provide regular updates to management.
• Serve as a subject-matter resource for Amazon Vendor Central reconciliation.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 3–7 employees including hiring, training, performance management, and development.

Skills/experience required:
• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2+ years of reconciliation, accounting, or high-volume transactional / e-commerce finance experience.
• 2+ years of people management or team lead experience.
• Experience working with complex customer accounts or e-commerce platforms; Amazon Vendor Central experience preferred.
• Strong Excel skills; Access experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

This position will be remote; however, periodic in-office attendance is required throughout the year for meetings and training.
