Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Quality Management:
- Develop and implement the overall quality strategy aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Lead the development and maintenance of quality management systems (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and other relevant standards.
2. Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of quality managers, engineers, and inspectors.
- Foster a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and accountability across the organization.
3. Collaboration and teamwork:
- Models teamwork by working effectively with key leaders in the organization, like Engineering, New Product Introduction, Manufacturing and Supply Chain.
- Removes barriers to positive team performance.
4. Quality Assurance and Control:
- Oversee all quality assurance and control activities, including inspection, testing, and validation of mechanical and electronic subassemblies.
- Ensure robust process controls and monitor performance using statistical process control (SPC) and other quality tools.
5. Compliance and Certification:
- Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage certification processes and maintain current certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
6. Supplier Quality Management:
- Develop and manage supplier quality programs, including supplier audits, assessments, and performance improvement plans.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure high-quality incoming materials and components.
7. Continuous Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and 8D problem-solving.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
8. Customer Engagement:
- Act as the primary point of contact for quality-related customer issues and concerns.
- Ensure timely and effective resolution of customer complaints and non-conformances.
9. Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks to product quality and implement strategies to mitigate them.
- Lead failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and other risk assessment activities.
10. Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior management.
- Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of quality processes, audits, and corrective actions.
11. Technology and Innovation:
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in quality management, electronics manufacturing, and automotive industry trends.
- Integrate new technologies and innovations into the quality management systems.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field. A master’s degree, MBA or Six Sigma certification are highly desirable.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality management within the automotive manufacturing industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Extensive experience with quality standards and certifications relevant to the automotive industry (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of electronics automotive industry, manufacturing processes, quality related functions, and industry regulations.
- Proven leadership and team management abilities, with vast experience in developing high performing teams.
- Excellent strategic planning, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Proficiency in quality management software and tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
- Certifications:
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor, Six Sigma Black Belt, or similar certifications are highly desirable.
Working Conditions:
- The role primarily involves working in an office environment within the manufacturing plant, with frequent visits to the production floor and quality labs.
- May require travel to supplier sites, customer locations, and industry conferences.
Reporting Line:
- Reports to the Director of Manufacturing Operations or the Plant General Manager.
- Manages Supplier Quality, Process Quality Assurance, Customer Quality, Quality Management Systems, Component Failure Analysis, Material Analysis and Quality Control.
