Job Description:

The Quality Manager will be responsible for providing Quality leadership, managing, and developing QA teams that support site, customer and manufacturing operations, which includes coordination of site quality certifications, customer quality, manufacturing quality, supply-chain monitoring process development and quality initiatives. Essential duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing a team to support:
    • Site quality systems (QMS) development and continual improvement, working within the site teams to maintain ISO9001, AS9100 certifications and other industry standards.
    • Customer Failure Analysis requests, creation of 8D, to determine root cause, implementing corrective/preventive actions for returns and/or complaints.
    • Reliability activities during new product introduction, qualification planning, MTBF/FIT calculations
    • Manufacturing by completing in process inspections, MRB fault analysis, root cause, CAPA, awareness training.
    • Supply-chain, SCAR process with corrective actions for non-conforming materials, new material/product first article assessments/test plans, review potential new suppliers through surveys and on-site audits.
    • Process engineering with development and implementation of new processes, including documentation and personnel training.
    • Provide factory awareness training for ESD and FOD programs, as well as provide operator specialist certifications to IPC-610 and J-STD-001 quality requirements.
    • Maintain and develop procedures and processes to improve overall product and process quality
    • Supporting NPI activities, creation of Quality Plans, setting Key Characteristics (KC), identify and education team on RISK (FMEA) during NPI process  
    • Supervising, coaching and developing quality teams (Quality Engineers and Inspectors), monitoring, and implementing GMP and Key Product/Process Indicators (KPIs)
    • Working with the other FTS site quality, operation and business unit teams to develop and align business and production practices
    • Monitoring and evaluating internal production processes, Internal and Process Auditing
    • Engaging with customers and gathering product feedback and implementing control plans to address customer needs
    • Reporting to upper management on quality standard and product issues
    • Help facilitate continual improvement and learning culture across all functional areas through training and communication of quality initiatives.
    • Manage FTS Quality Engineering Groups in Beverly, Boulder, and San Jose.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of managing and supervisory experience
  • Four-year degree preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • US Person for ITAR regulations
  • Experience in developing, training and mentoring quality and manufacturing personnel
  • Proven experience in application of Six Sigma and 8D methodologies and tools to determine root cause and corrective action implementation for internal/external issues
  • Proven experience utilizing and implementing LEAN tools and strategies, i.e. 6S, managing and removing waste from a process
  • Experience in developing and maintaining site Quality Management System, enabling the site to maintain its ISO9001 and AS9100 certifications
  • Full understanding of the audit process including types of audits, planning, preparation, execution, reporting results, and follow-up. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently
  • Ensuring products are designed with adherence to legal and safety standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with attention to details
  • Data analysis and statistical aptitude

Desirable

  • Familiarity with frequency control products and related military performance specifications and standards
  • PCB manufacturing experience, SMT and Through hole
  • Systems and module manufacturing
  • Knowledge of reliability and risk management, including key terms and definitions, modeling, assessment tools, and reporting.
  • User experience with Minitab or similar statistical analysis software
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Access Six sigma Green Belt, Black Belt
  • Working knowledge of Oracle, Microsoft AX, Agile

Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in Massachusetts, is $91,000 - $247,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
