As the QA Manager, you will lead a team of QA professionals responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and accuracy of complex applications, cloud frameworks, and healthcare workflows. You will drive automation, elevate engineering quality practices, strengthen QA strategy and documentation, and partner closely with cross-functional teams to support our mission.
This role is onsite 5 days a week in our Overland Park, KS headquarters and may require availability after hours to support critical releases, escalations, or production efforts.
Responsibilities
Lead & Develop a High‑Performing QA Engineering Team
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to QA engineers.
- Maximize team capability and resource utilization to consistently deliver high‑quality releases.
- Drive team skill growth in automation, performance testing, cloud QA, and modern engineering practices.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, ownership, quality craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
Execute a Modern, Scalable QA Strategy
- Own and execute a comprehensive QA strategy across product lines—automation, manual, performance, regression, and integration testing.
- Maintain and evolve QA documentation, including test plans, test cases, strategy documents, runbooks, and release readiness checklists.
- Implement shift‑left testing practices and embed QA earlier in the SDLC.
- Drive improvement initiatives using data, quality metrics, and engineering feedback loops.
Startup‑Style Ownership & Agility
- Operate with urgency, flexibility, and a bias for action—removing blockers and driving forward momentum.
- Lead change initiatives that modernize QA processes, tools, workflows, and engineering quality discipline.
- Embrace rapid iteration with scalable practices that maintain integrity and accelerate time‑to‑market.
- Be available off‑hours when necessary to support critical testing cycles, production issues, or high‑impact releases.
Quality in Complex Healthcare + Cloud Environments
- Ensure QA processes reflect the reliability and safety expectations of the healthcare industry.
- Oversee testing for secure, scalable SaaS solutions, healthcare workflows, data integrity, and interoperability.
- Guide testing of distributed systems, microservices, APIs, serverless components, and dynamic cloud architectures.
- Support load, stress, security, and performance testing strategies for highly available systems.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with Engineering, Product Management, Cloud Hosting, Client Support, Consulting, and Client Engagement teams.
- Monitor and report on operational and quality metrics: defect escape rates, churn, test coverage, utilization, and roadmap alignment.
- Communicate risks, impacts, readiness, and recommendations clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
- Support the organization in defining and maintaining quality standards across engineering disciplines.
Operational Leadership
- Make timely decisions that balance immediate priorities with long‑term roadmap goals.
- Manage QA budgets, resource planning, and capacity forecasts.
- Ensure repeatable processes, documentation, and governance structures support scaling.
- Drive metric‑based continuous improvement and quality predictability.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in testing, test automation, or software development.
- 2+ years leading technical QA or engineering staff.
- 3+ years managing large, complex projects.
- Experience with Agile development and full SDLC testing practices.
- Strong understanding of automation frameworks, QA tooling, and CI/CD integrations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in fast‑paced environments and handle after‑hours needs when required.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Must be onsite full‑time in Overland Park, KS.
Preferred:
- QA experience with scalable, secure web/mobile apps or distributed cloud systems.
