RESPONSIBILITIES
- To define, organize, plan, direct and execute Evonik’s major capital projects with a high investment volume and/or high level of complexity (e.g. establishment of new sites, joint venture projects).
- To ensure that all engineering and construction work for capital projects is carried out in a timely, cost effective, safe and technically superior manner in accordance with accepted engineering practices, governmental regulations and Evonik standards.
- To serve as a seasoned technical resource for the Business Segments with specific know-how about the Evonik processes and state-of-the-art engineering practices. This is in order to keep the company equal to or ahead of the competition regarding operational and total life cycle cost.
- As a result of specialized knowledge and experience, the role contributes significantly to the conceptual development of the unit (tools, processes) and trains future project managers.
- Incumbent will promote and maintain the principles of and responsibilities related to Responsible Care within his/her assigned areas of responsibility.
- Direct the definition and development of the most economical project scope based on objectives provided by the Business Groups in cooperation with the Project Responsible.
- Direct project development and implementation with emphasis on lowest possible investment cost and efficient and safe plant operability.
- To be fully oversee the preparation of cost estimates of capital projects for feasibility studies, basic engineering, detail design and construction.
- Identification of required internal and external resources (personnel requirements) and establishment and management of the extensive project organization for a clear division of tasks and responsibilities in the project team in various project phases.
- To be fully responsible technically and managerially for the definition, organization and execution of capital projects and for the compliance with all regulatory and corporate requirements.
- Direct preparation of the front end engineering documentation and Capital Appropriation Requests.
- Monitor and report project progress to the Business Segment on a regular basis with emphasis on project cost, schedule and project scope changes.
- Develop detailed project execution and commissioning strategies and procedures in cooperation with the Project Responsible, Site Management and the Health, Safety and Environmental Department.
- To be fully accountable for the project scope and definition and total investment costs.
- Negotiate and authorize contracts associated with the project in cooperation with the Legal and Procurement Department.
- Review and authorize capital expenditures as defined in the Authorized Signers List for Capital Projects.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree required. Engineering or Construction Science preferred.
- 15 yrs of minimum experience executing large capital projects.
- Contract and contractor management experience or project management experience.
- Demonstrated experience running project development and execution phase
