Job Summary:
Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a cross-platform mobile team building innovative experiences on Disney+. You will manage a team of iOS and Android engineers delivering features that bring new ways for millions of users to discover and enjoy content on their phones. This is a unique opportunity to shape the direction of an exciting product area with a recently expanded roadmap and high organizational visibility. You will partner closely with product, design, backend, and data science teams to deliver polished, performant experiences at massive consumer scale. Responsibilities:
As a Manager on the Mobile Engineering team at Disney, you are technically driven and aspire to support our team members across iOS and Android platforms. You care deeply about fostering a culture of inclusivity, productivity, and growth. You will meet regularly with your direct reports and guide them along their career path. You are excited at the idea of building a phenomenal cross-platform team and are comfortable closing top talent.
You will lead engineers delivering engaging features, spanning content playback, presentation, navigation, and personalization, in a fast-moving product area with ambitious goals. You bring strong mobile platform expertise and can provide meaningful technical guidance to your team while also staying focused on team health, delivery, and cross-functional alignment.
You are a role model for the engineering team. You identify project, people, and organizational challenges and facilitate well-thought-out solutions to them. You seek out leadership opportunities to improve processes and do it with finesse and a positive attitude. You are comfortable operating in ambiguity and can help your team navigate a rapidly evolving product space.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of related work experience
- Bachelor's degree or better in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent job experience
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities to ensure effective growth and development of team
- 5+ years of production experience with at least one major mobile platform (iOS with Swift/SwiftUI or Android with Kotlin)
- Experience with mobile application development lifecycle and software delivery practices
- Significant experience leading teams and managing people
- You have a history of writing high-quality code, tests, and documentation
- Ability to successfully manage teams dispersed amongst multiple time zones
- Proven experience in monitoring, supporting, and improving application availability and reliability
- Demonstrated successful partnership with cross-functional counterparts including product, design, and backend
- Exemplify diversity, inclusion, and belonging in leadership
- Ability to navigate complex corporate environments and influence key stakeholders and partners
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with both iOS and Android development ecosystems
- Experience with video playback technologies and media frameworks (AVFoundation, ExoPlayer, or similar)
- Experience with short-form or feed-based content experiences
- Well-versed in mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, Composable Architecture, or similar)
- Experience recruiting, developing, and leading teams in the streaming or media field
- Experience working on systems at a massive consumer scale
- Experience working with global / distributed teams
- Familiarity with content recommendation systems or personalization features
- Experience with mobile performance optimization and instrumentation

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY and Seattle, WA is $179,700 - $241,000. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.Job Posting Segment:
