Manager, Product Management 
 

The Opportunity: 

We are looking for a Product Manager to join our Integration Platform team within Data and Ecosystem Platform, where we Provide the platform to connect and exchange information bidirectionally with healthcare network in a faster, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective way. This is an essential role that gives you the opportunity to drive and execute the product roadmap and execution of our frictionless, transparent connectivity strategy. You will do so in an exciting environment driven by a desire to enable more efficient and effective healthcare 

The Opportunity:  

In this role, you will play a crucial part in healthcare by automating and standardizing the way we build connections to the Healthcare ecosystem. This will help our customers deliver seamless care to their patients. You will collaborate with internal product teams, engineers, and clients to develop innovative solutions that enhance interoperability, improve patient outcomes, and ensure compliance with industry standards, all while supporting our evolving AI-first technology approach.  

You will engage daily with scrum teams to define epics, prioritize the product backlog, and make trade-off decisions regarding scope and schedule. 

 In this role, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of workflows and services aimed at creating the connections, intelligence, and experiences that unify the healthcare ecosystem. You will do so in an exciting, collaborative, and fast-paced environment driven by a desire to enable more efficient and effective care. In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary team members to drive execution of high-quality solutions to complex problems that please users and provide business results. 

This hybrid role is based in our Boston office.

  • You are an outcome-oriented Product Manager  

  • You have experience collaborating with clients, business teams, and internal teams as stakeholders  

  • You have demonstrated success at building a long-term roadmap and driving results in a fast-paced environment where you must manage competing priorities   

  • You have experience working with colleagues to broaden or narrow the scope of a problem to enable action and create manageable efforts  

  • You have demonstrated the ability to propose the most appropriate approach for the need at hand, and you can quickly pivot if this approach fails  

  • You see the value in proactively making recommendations for ongoing support and enhancements (updates, self-service)  

  • You are interested in industry developments and trends 

  • Experience with AI enabled software development and HL7 FHIR standards is a strong plus.  

 

The Team:  

Our Integration Platform Zone is a passionate group of Product Management, Engineering, User Experience, Analytics and Patient Safety professionals. Healthcare is local, and each athena customer has unique integration needs based on their specific business strategy and enterprise architecture. athena customers leverage the integration platform, build tools, integration services, and extensive library of global connections to intelligently create their local connections. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Become a subject matter expert in customer, technology, and regulatory requirements related to healthcare data Integrations 

  • Contribute to product vision, develop business cases, ensure a product (or set of product features) meets business requirements, and drives the creation and delivery of the product   

  • Define epics and user stories - clearly articulating business requirements for the problems we’re trying to solve, including UX and supporting requirements with a strong focus on outcomes   

  • Drive ongoing backlog allocations and prioritization of opportunities  

  • Foster an AI-first mentality and execution approach across our organization  

  • Collaborate cross functionally with global as well as technical teams 

  • Partner with UX to research the problem space, identify the user needs, and conceptualize a solution 

  • Strong negotiation & logical reasoning to ensure the right product scope & schedule tradeoffs 

  • Define success criteria for the features/product, and measure performance against them 

  • Support feature rollouts through alpha, beta, and general availability by collaborating with customer-facing teams, analyzing feature impact, and preparing communications 

  • Communicate equally well with Sales/Marketing teams as with Engineering teams & leading the conversation to planned outcomes 

  • Partner with Product Management leaders to be the voice of product decisions within the organization 

  • Travel to customer sites across the country for user research; 10% or less. 

 

Typical Qualifications 

  • 2+ years of product management experience   

  • Experience working with stakeholders in a business environment across cross-functional groups   

  • Understanding of product management best practices, including agile development environments   

  • Experience in Healthcare integration standards – FHIR, HL7 is ideal  

  • Ability to use data and numbers for crucial decision making  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required 

  • Intellectual curiosity, problem solving mentality & the ability to think creatively is required 

  • Experience with analytics and data-driven decision-making
